Aric Almirola Returns for No. 51 truck for Daytona

Vision Aviation Racing announced today that Aric Almirola will drive the No.51 Vision Airlines/Emerald Coast Resorts Toyota Tundra in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) race at Daytona International Speedway on Friday, February 18, 2011.

Almirola will be climbing behind the wheel of the same equipment that propelled him to a second-place points finish in the 2010 NCWTS driver standings. Coming off his most successful season in the Truck Series since his debut in 2005, Almirola visited victory lane twice and racked up 11 top-five and 21 top-10 finishes to round out the 2010 season.

“We are extremely happy to have Aric back in the 51 for our Daytona efforts. He has proven himself to be a top contender in the Truck Series and we look forward to a very successful weekend,” said team General Manager Tom Davis.

“I’m really excited to have the opportunity, thanks to Vision Aviation Racing, to race the 51 truck at Daytona,” commented Aric Almirola. “The equipment is top of the line and I hope to bring my Vision Airlines/Emerald Coast Resort truck to victory lane.

“When I was asked to drive the 51 at Daytona, I jumped on the opportunity. It only helps me with more track time, since I’ll race both the Truck and Nationwide Series at Daytona. And who would pass up the opportunity to run the Truck Series race, especially if they feel they have the chance to win?

“I think the owners of Vision Aviation Racing have done a great job at building a new team in the off-season. But that doesn’t mean we have a rookie team; if you look at the personnel that has been assembled there are a lot of good, experienced guys that work at VAR.”
