Timothy Peters Finishes 16th at Eldora Speedway

Timothy Peters drove the No. 17 Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra to a 16th-place finish in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series’ second visit to Eldora Speedway. Peters displayed speed during the two morning practice sessions at the storied dirt track, and turned in the ninth-fastest lap in the qualifying session, placing him on the front row for the fourth heat race. During the qualifying race, he battled for 10 laps with six other competitors and finished third to secure the 14th starting position for the main event. The 150-lap race was divided into three segments of 60, 50 and 40 laps. During the first segment, Peters climbed into the top 10 of the running order. Crew chief Marcus Richmond called the Red Horse Racing driver to pit road during the scheduled competition caution between segments for four tires, fuel and a wedge adjustment to combat the tight-handling condition that Peters reported to the team. The Danville, Virginia resident started the second portion of the race from the 10th position and remained in the top-10 for 50 laps despite battling a loose-handling truck. Peters and Richmond agreed that coming to pit road for adjustments before the final 40 laps would cost valuable track position, and opted to remain on track. The veteran driver fought tenaciously to remain in the top 10, but slipped backwards following the final restart to take the checkered flag in the 16th position.

Timothy Peters Quote:

“We really didn’t need that last caution. Unfortunately I just could not get a good restart and lost some ground, and there weren’t enough laps to get back up there. It was great to see the stands so packed. The fans at Eldora (Speedway) are passionate about racing, especially on dirt. I hope they enjoyed the race again this year.”
