John Wes Townley Ready to Tackle Mudsummer Classic at Eldora Speedway

John Wes Townley heads to Eldora Speedway to embark on a week full of racing.  Townley will first run the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race in the No. 05 Zaxby’s Athenian Motorsports Toyota Tundra on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 in the second annual Mudsummer Classic at Eldora Speedway.  Townley will then head to Indianapolis for the ARCA Racing Series event at Lucus Oil Raceway Park Friday night and will make his debut at Indianapolis Motor Speedway Saturday, July 26, 2014.

Townley posted a 22nd-place finish in the inaugural Mudsummer Classic in 2013 on the .500-mile high-banked clay oval in New Weston, Ohio.

“Racing on dirt is definitely a different beast compared to asphalt racing,” John Wes Townley said.  “Eldora is a dark dirt surface that gets compacted more which keeps the track slick.  It takes on so much rubber.  I wish we could have a wider wheelbase and wider tires to make the trucks more stable at Eldora.  We don’t have that option, so we’ll go out there take what I learned from last year and hopefully have a strong finish for these guys on this Athenian Motorsports team and Zaxby’s.”

The 1-800-CarCash Mudsummer Classic at Eldora Speedway is slated for Wednesday, July 23, 2014.  Practice, qualifying races and the main event will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1, MRN and Sirius XM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.
