John Wes Townley Pulls Double Duty in the Bluegrass State

John Wes Townley is set to run double duty in the NASCAR Camping World Truck and NASCAR Nationwide Series’ events at Kentucky Speedway this weekend.  Townley will pilot the No. 5 Zaxby’s Toyota Tundra in the UNHOH 225 Thursday, June 26 and the No. 25 Zaxby’s Athenian Motorsports Toyota Camry in John R. Elliott HERO Campaign 300 presented by Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over race Friday, June 27, 2014.

Townley is no stranger to double duty this season running the full schedule in the ARCA Racing Series and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series but will embark on his first double header in the top tier NASCAR touring series.

Townley has made two previous starts in the NASCAR Nationwide Series this year posting a 13th-place finish at Talladega Speedway and a 22nd-place finish piloting the Athenian Motorsports Toyota.

This will mark Townley’s second NNS start at the 1.5-mile Sparta, Kentucky track.  He has two ARCA Racing Series and four NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts with a best finish of 10th-place in 2010.

“I’m really looking forward to going to Kentucky,” John Wes Townley said.  “We’ve been running really well in the Trucks Series this year and I hope to continue that streak.  Right now we are sitting seventh in points and there are still a lot of races left.”

“Kentucky is a unique mile and half track,” Townley continued.  “The track has a really rough surface and is pretty bumpy and the car can get really free at night.  You have to have a good balance and setup right off the transporter.  Our goal is to log laps, keep out of trouble, finish the races and hopefully get two top-10 finishes for Zaxby’s in Kentucky.”

The UNOH 225 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race is slated to begin at 8:00pm on Thursday, June 26, 2014.  Fox Sports 1, PRN & Sirius Satellite NASCAR Radio Channel 90 race coverage begins at 7:30pm.
