Townley Posts Career Best NCWTS Finish with Wauters Motorsports at CMS

John Wes Townley posted a career best NASCAR Camping World Truck Series finish of fourth-place at Charlotte Motors Speedway Friday night in the running of the North Carolina Education Lottery 200.

Townley placed the Wauters Motorsports entry in the 15th-place on the starting grid for the 134-lap race on the 1.5-mile Concord, NC track.

“At first, to be honest I was kind of worried; we had been tight all day,” John Wes Townley said. “It just turned out though that everybody else freed up — and we just kind of got to a neutral point.  We were still a little bit on the tight side.  But, we managed to get my career best in the Truck Series out of it.  I can’t thank Wauters Motorsports, Zaxby’s and Toyota enough.  It was a really good night for us.”

The No. 5 Zaxby’s Toyota Tundra avoided several near misses in the fourth Camping World Truck Series race of the 2014 season.  Townley narrowly escaped a late race incident when another truck dove underneath him on the inside causing the other truck to lose control when they hit the median grass.  Townley was able to rebound bringing the Wauters entry home in the fourth-place position.

“I heard inside,” Townley went on to explain the incident with the other race truck.  “But, it was so late that there was just nothing I could do about it.  He was already there and I was already there. I think he’s a little upset.  The thing about it is- its racing.  Unfortunately, I would have given him the line if I knew he was there.  I heard inside and unfortunately it was just too late for me to do anything about it.  So, I hate that.”

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series has an off week before heading to Dover International Raceway May 30, 2014.  Townley will be back in action Sunday at Toledo Speedway for the ARCA Racing Series event and then Saturday in the No. 25 Zaxby’s NASCAR Nationwide Series car at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
