Germán Quiroga Scores Second Top-10 Finish of the Season in a Thrilling Martinsville Speedway Race

Germán Quiroga rolled off eighth in the No. 77 NET10 Wireless Toyota Tundra for the Kroger 250 after Saturday’s qualifying was cancelled due to rain and the field was set per the NASCAR rule book. The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series drivers were able to participate in both practice sessions on Friday, and Quiroga’s starting spot was based off of a 19.727-second lap. Rain once again threatened the weekend’s activities, postponing the race until Sunday night after the NASCAR Cup Series event. Once the green flag dropped Quiroga knew that some adjustments would be needed, telling his crew chief, Butch Hylton, that the Toyota Tundra’s handling was too tight. During the second pit stop of the night the team made a track bar adjustment, refueled and put four fresh tires on the NET10 Wireless truck. The adjustments were exactly what the driver needed, and he began to make his way to the front from the 20th position. Quiroga quickly found himself in the top 10, running ninth with 30 laps remaining in the scheduled 250-lap event. A late-race caution meant that there would be a green-white-checkered finish. During the second attempt at a green-white-checkered finish and after the white flag was displayed to signal the final lap, Quiroga made contact with another driver who had gotten loose and started to spin in front of him. This brought out the last caution of the race and froze the field to set the finishing order. The Mexico City native was scored with a seventh-place result, earning his second top-10 finish in as many races this season.

Germán Quiroga Quote:
“I feel very optimistic about this season with this second top-10 finish, and I’m certain that we will continue to have great results. I’m so confident in my team. We didn’t have the truck we wanted at the start of the race, but Butch (Hylton), my crew chief, and the whole team worked hard to make the right adjustments and give me a NET10Wireless Toyota Tundra that I could compete with. I feel very confident where we’re sitting in points and I’m looking forward to getting to Kansas (Speedway).”
