Days before NASCAR roars around Martinsville Speedway, fans will have the opportunity to circle the same track as their favorite drivers during the return of Track Laps for Charity on Wednesday, April 12, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Track Laps for Charity offers fans the opportunity to drive five laps in their personal vehicles around Martinsville’s historic half-mile for a donation of $25. All proceeds will support a beneficiary organization making a difference in our community.

“Normally our fans gather in the stands to take on the racing action at Martinsville Speedway, but Track Laps for Charity once again gives them a chance to be on the track while being a part of the NASCAR weekend,” said Clay Campbell, Martinsville Speedway President. “This is a great opportunity for families and friends to check out their favorite track while supporting the community.”

This spring’s Track Laps for Charity event will benefit the Martinsville-Henry County SPCA

“Martinsville-Henry County SPCA is delighted to partner with Martinsville Speedway and NASCAR fans for the Track Laps for Charity this year,” said Catherine Gupton, Executive Director for Martinsville-Henry County SPCA. “We're grateful for this promotion which will support the SPCA's wide array of programs, from sheltering and rehoming, to educational internships, to providing low-cost spay/neuter and wellness services, through which we help hundreds of pets and people in our community every year.”

The mission of the Martinsville-Henry County SPCA is serving animals and people by engaging the hearts, hands and minds of the community. Their vision is to compassionately and responsibly create a more humane world for animals.

To participate in Track Laps for Charity, fans must abide by the following rules to provide all participants with a safe experience:

  • All drivers must be 18 years of age or older with a valid state-issued driver’s license.
  • Driver and each individual passenger must sign Track Laps for Charity waivers.
  • All participants must adhere to Virginia state laws regarding the usage of seat belts and child safety restraints.
  • Passenger vehicles only; motorcycles are not permitted.
  • Maximum speed is 55 miles per hour and regulated by Martinsville Speedway personnel in the Official Chevrolet Camaro Pace Car.
  • Drivers must stay up to speed and refrain from lagging behind in order to speed up.
  • Track Laps for Charity may be postponed or canceled due to inclement weather or safety conditions. If a cancellation is necessary, Martinsville Speedway will make its best effort to contact guests in advance of their visit.

That will be followed by the NASCAR Xfinity Series Call811.com Before You Dig 250 on Saturday.

Then on Sunday, April 16, drivers in the NASCAR Cup Series battle it out in the NOCO 400, all at the iconic venue known to bring the action.

Chassis History/Info: Grant Enfinger and the No. 23 team will compete with GMS Racing chassis no. 344 at Texas Motor Speedway. This chassis has been driven by Enfinger twice before, once at Homestead-Miami Speedway last year, and most recently just a couple of weeks ago in Atlanta Motor Speedway, where he finished in 19th position after cutting down a tire under green.

Texas Two Step: Enfinger has found a lot of past success at Texas Motor Speedway in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series. The stats don't lie; he has a top-10 rate of 70% at the 1.5-mile intermediate track and has finished in the top-five in exactly half of his starts at the facility. In 2019, Enfinger won his fourth-career pole award in a Champion Power Equipment truck that was crew chiefed by Jeff Hensley.

Hensley's Qualifying Record: When it comes to qualifying at Texas Motor Speedway, nobody comes close to Jeff Hensley. The veteran has won seven - yes, you read that right, seven - pole awards during his career as a crew chief in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (four with Mike Skinner, and one a piece with Justin Lofton, Spencer Gallagher, and Grant Enfinger). Hensley owns the record for the most poles at TMS, more than double the amount of his nearest competitors. In 2011, Jeff went to victory lane with Ron Hornaday, and looks to return there this weekend with Enfinger.

GE Appearances: Fans attending the Speedy Cash 250 will have an opportunity to meet Grant Enfinger on race day:

  • Saturday, April 1st | NCTS Autograph Session: Located in a tent just outside of the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series garage area, fans can meet all three GMS Racing drivers in an autograph session from 12:30 PM to 1:15 PM local time.

From The Drivers Seat: Texas Motor Speedway has been a good track for you in the past, what are some of the key factors to take into consideration to stay up front this weekend?

“I am ready to get back to Texas Motor Speedway. Last year at Texas we did not have enough to contend with, but I feel like our trucks are better this year. Texas is pretty unique, with it being so flat into turn one and two, but has so much banking in turns three and four. We need to stay ahead of the track and unload close, because it’s pretty difficult to pass there. I think our No. 23 Champion Power Equipment team has a lot of things going our way, and I feel if we do our job as a team we can contend for a win on Saturday."

- About the Wendell Scott Foundation: Founded in 2011, The Wendell Scott Foundation, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization inspired by Wendell Scott, Sr. and provides services such as job-skill training, STEM education opportunities, mentoring, and other supportive services to at-risk, underserved youth between the ages of 8-18 years in Danville, Virginia and surrounding areas.

The Foundation's mission of using educational attainment to end racial disparities in education and health is vital in addressing economic inequality and improving future success in African-American communities. For more information, please visit www.wendellscott.org.

- Chassis History/Info: Rajah Caruth and the No. 24 team will compete with GMS Racing chassis no. 323 in Fort Worth. This Chevrolet has made two starts in competition, once at Pocono Raceway last year with Grant Enfinger, and once at Las Vegas Motor Speedway earlier this season with Caruth at the wheel, where it finished 29th due to an incident on a green flag pit stop.

- Best Finish of the Season: Rajah Caruth was in the thick of things for his road course debut at COTA. Despite being dealt a penalty for shortcutting the esses early in the 42-lap race, Caruth was able to take advantage of a strategy call that gained track position during the final run of the event, resulting in a 13th place finish. The end result promoted Caruth two positions in the points standings, with the rookie now holding it down in 20th.

- Sunoco Rookie Battle: Caruth's 13th place finish at the Circuit Of The Americas last Saturday was the third highest result of a rookie. Taking a look at the Sunoco Rookie of the Year standings heading into Texas, Rajah ranks fourth, 36 points behind leading candidate Nick Sanchez, and three points behind Daniel Dye in third place.

RC Appearances: Fans attending the Speedy Cash 250 will have an opportunity to meet Rajah Caruth on race day:

  • Saturday, April 1st | NCTS Autograph Session: Located in a tent just outside of the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series garage area, fans can meet all three GMS Racing drivers in an autograph session from 12:30 PM to 1:15 PM local time.

- From The Driver's Seat: Rajah's thoughts on competing at Texas Motor Speedway for the first time:

"I’m excited to hit up another new venue this weekend in Texas Motor Speedway. I enjoy the high-speed facilities, and know our No. 24 Wendell Scott Foundation Chevy Silverado will have the speed to contend all race long! We are hoping to continue the start of the momentum that we've gained from last race in Austin. I think we can have ourselves a fun weekend with GMS Racing."

Daniel Dye, No. 43 KIX Country / Race To Stop Suicide Chevrolet Silverado RST

Texas Motor Speedway Stats

- Daniel Dye will be making his first start in any series at Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday.

2023 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Season Stats

The station is owned by Flagler County Broadcasting and the broadcast license is held by Flagler Broadcasting, LLC. WAKX shares radio studios in Bunnell, Florida, with sister stations WBHQ (92.7 FM) and WNZF (1550 AM).

- Chassis History/Info: Dye and the No. 43 team will compete with GMS Racing chassis no. 330 in the Lone Star state. The chassis has raced one time previously at Texas Motor Speedway in 2020, where Zane Smith led 26 laps with it before finishing in 19th. The truck has one win to its credit, coming at Dover Motor Speedway in 2020 driven by Smith. Dye last drove this Chevrolet in Atlanta Motor Speedway in March, where he finished in 16th.

- Sunoco Rookie Battle: A respectable 18th place finish at COTA was salvaged by Daniel Dye after suffering a catastrophic setback in practice that forced the No. 43 team to replace his engine, transmission, rear gear, and more. Dye would start shotgun on the field in Saturday's XPEL 225, but worked his way through the field methodically, climbing 18 spots in the process to earn a top-20 finish. Dye is now tied for second in the Sunoco Rookie of the Year standings with Jake Garcia, 33 markers behind Nick Sanchez.

Quarter Midgets to Trucks: This weekend might be the first time that Dye races on the 1.5-mile intermediate track layout on the property, but he has raced at Texas Motor Speedway once before in a different capacity. On June 9th, 2018, Daniel competed in a quarter midget race held in the parking lot of TMS, and even went home with the trophy. Dye continues to show his support for quarter midget racing, often spending his time with his eight-year-old nephew, Jet Risley, who currently races in the same class Dye began his career in.

DD Appearances: Fans attending the Speedy Cash 250 will have an opportunity to meet Daniel Dye on race day:

  • Saturday, April 1st | NCTS Autograph Session: Located in a tent just outside of the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series garage area, fans can meet all three GMS Racing drivers in an autograph session from 12:30 PM to 1:15 PM local time.

- From the Driver's Seat: Daniel's thoughts on competing at Texas Motor Speedway:

“I'm looking forward to going to Texas with our No. 43 team this weekend, it's another intermediate track on our schedule but quite a bit different than what we had in Las Vegas and Atlanta. It will be a new challenge for us, but I'm going to learn all day throughout practice, qualifying, and through the first stage of the race. I haven't been to that track since I raced quarter midgets out in the parking lot a few years ago, so I think it will be a fun experience to come full-circle by racing at the big track.”

Since the earliest days of video games, motor racing has been one of the top themes. Those of us lucky enough to have had 1980s childhoods will doubtless remember arcade classics like Super Bug or Pole Position on their 8-bit home computer. 40 years on, and not only are racing games still among the most popular themes, many of the players are still the same – perhaps a little less trim and with greying hair, but just as passionate about their racing.

Mobile is today’s platform of choice

Of course, plenty has changed in 40 years, and not just in terms of the gameplay and realism. Back in the 80s, playing a racing game meant either feeding coins into a cabinet or hooking up a computer to the family TV screen with either joystick or even steering wheel and pedal set up. Today, it’s just a case of pulling the phone from our pocket and clicking on an app. That’s part of the reason that gaming of all varieties is so common today among all ages. Many of us would think twice about investing heavily in a gaming console and so on, but when we already have a smartphone and 98 percent of games are free to download, then why not?

There are literally dozens of racing games out there covering different themes and sub-genres. If you are looking for a casual game that will provide a fun distraction in your idle moments, we have selected a handful of the most popular for your consideration.

Real Racing 3 – the original and still the best racing sim

For the past decade, Real Racing 3 (RR3) has been the go-to racing game for Android and iOS. Think of it as the mobile version of Gran Turismo. Don’t be deterred by the fact that the game will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year – the graphics and game physics have aged well. The attention to detail is fabulous, and every one of the 250 or so cars available has its own handling characteristics. Performance is affected if you pick up damage so try to keep it on the black stuff!

There are all sorts of game modes, including multiplayer events and special challenges, so there’s always something new to try. But if you are just discovering the game for the first time, focus on career mode, starting with the more modest vehicles. Learning the tracks, and particularly the braking points, is essential, and it all comes with experience.

Asphalt 9 – Legends – a guilty pleasure for arcade racers

Like RR3, Asphalt 9 has licenses with some of the top automotive manufacturers. But that’s where the similarities end. While RR3 is all about bringing the most authentic driving experience to your handset, Asphalt 9 takes a traditional arcade-style approach, with nitrous boosts and incredible stunts that make the Dukes of Hazzard look like a retired couple out on a shopping trip.

It's less cerebral than RR3 and doesn’t demand the same sort of concentration, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes, a bit of mindless arcade-style fun is exactly what you need to pass a few idle moments, and Asphalt 9 never fails to deliver.

Formula X – the motor racing themed casino slot

Here’s a racing themed game that is a massive hit among Australian racing fans. Not only do Aussies love their motorsport, they are also the biggest spending casino players on the planet, wagering on average more than $1,000 per person per year. Most of that is spent on slot games, or pokies as they are known locally, and the best paying online casinos offer hundreds of games. Now the first step towards receiving a top payout is finding a game with a decent return to player and a good selection of bonus features. Formula X checks all the boxes.

Don’t be deterred by the somewhat dated appearance of the game, first impressions can be deceptive. Behind the basic main screen lie extra events like a free spins round and a bonus minigame called “Pole Position” – if that doesn’t transport you back to the days of Commodore and Atari gaming, there is no hope left for you! Overall, this is a fun slot game with reasonable payout metrics, in which there is always something happening.

Flex your managerial muscles with F1 Clash

Some of the most compelling sports games are ones that place you in the manager’s chair. If you think you could out-fox Christian Horner or Toto Wolff, it’s time to stop talking about it and instead install F1 Clash on your phone.

The main game modes are “duels” where you go directly up against another manager in a race to the checkered flag and “events” which follow the real-world F1 season. There are numerous decisions to be made during the race including pit stop strategy, fuel management and choice of tire compound. You can also spend coins to upgrade your cars between races, so with a little dedication, even the Williams Racing, Haas or Alfa Romeos can be fighting it out at the front of the grid!

Open World adventures in Forza Horizon 4

The mobile port of this 2018 addition to the Forza Horizon series is set in a fictionalized Great Britain. There is a vast network of roads and lanes to explore, and more than 400 cars to choose from, from modern supercars to vintage museum pieces – for the driving purists, the latter offer the most challenging experience, especially when the British climate turns against you!

There are numerous challenges and events to try, and success will bring currency and the opportunity to expand your car collection. But the best part is exploring the open road – happy travels and drive safely!

Notes of Interest

● Chase Briscoe makes his fifth start at Richmond (Va.) Raceway this Sunday in the No. 14 Mahindra Tractors Ford Mustang. He has a best start of fourth and a best finish of 11th, both earned last April.

● When he returned to Richmond last August, Briscoe looked like he would have the opportunity to earn his first top-10 at the track. He was running as high as fourth before his final scheduled green-flag pit stop with just over 100 laps to go. He was running 19th as other teams continued to make their pit stops when his rocker box caught fire, forcing him to pit road. Briscoe was able to continue, but ultimately finished 23rd.

● Since his 2022 win at Phoenix, Briscoe has finished no worse than 15th in nine of 11 points-paying starts on tracks 1 mile or shorter. The exceptions are his 22nd-place result in last year’s race on the dirt at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway, when he led 59 laps but spun on the final lap while attempting a pass for the win, and the 23rd-place finish at Richmond last August. In 2021, Briscoe’s best finish on the shorter tracks on the NASCAR schedule was a 13th-place result earned in the fall at Bristol.

● Briscoe has five NASCAR Xfinity Series starts at Richmond with a best finish of fifth in September 2019.

Chase Briscoe, Driver of the No. 14 Mahindra Tractors Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing:

It seems the No. 14 team has really found something that works on the short tracks. Can we see that continue this weekend at Richmond?

“I really hope so. I was happy to see that we had something to work with at Phoenix and I’m excited to get to Richmond and have a shot to come out with a good finish. We were really strong there last spring, and even better when we went back for the second race, so I think we can definitely come out with a top-10 finish, if not better.”

Why is Richmond such a tough track to figure out?

“I’m not really sure. I was never really a short-track racer, so I felt like that was a big part of it, but Richmond doesn’t really drive like a lot of the other short tracks. The corners aren’t as tight as what we see at some other places. It is more like Phoenix, I think, so being good there probably helped when it came to the Richmond races last year. It’s such a unique track and it’s a lot more fun when you have a car capable of running up front.”

It’s been a slow start to the season. Is there anything that you can pinpoint as the major thing you and the team need to figure out?

“It’s hard to say. We’ve had races where we’ve just been off, some where we’ve got a car that is good, but we get too far behind to start and can’t make up ground. Then, we’ve just had some races where we get caught up in someone else’s problem. It’s frustrating, but it’s nothing we haven’t dealt with before. There are always ups and downs in this sport and, in the end, it comes down to who is able to keep pushing forward to find a way to be better. I know we’ve got the team that can do that, so we’ll keep working hard and hopefully it turns around for us soon.”

Denny Hamlin, Driver of the No. 11 SHINGRIX Toyota Camry TRD

What is your outlook going to Richmond this weekend?

“I’m excited for Richmond – my hometown, some home cooking. We won the race last year. It’s my kind of race track, I love it. I think we should be pretty strong, I really do. It’s not always a fan favorite from an action perspective because it’s very similar to Atlanta where the race can get strung out. It’s one of those race the racetrack type of tracks, so there’s not a lot of beating and banging even though it’s less than a mile. I would say the best cars win there on a higher percentage than any other races. Some tracks fit drivers a little better than others and I feel like Richmond is one where I can make a little difference in what my car may not have.”

For the first time this season drivers and teams of the Champion Racing Association (CRA) Street Stocks Powered by JEGS will prepare for battle at Shadybowl Speedway in DeGraff, Ohio on Sunday, April 2nd. The race kicks off an 11 event regular season that wraps up Saturday, October 14th at Winchester Speedway ahead of the non-points season finale at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway on Saturday, November 4th. The 2023 season marks the 18th year of racing for the CRA Street Stocks.

The Cabin Fever event goes back 13 years to Plymouth Speedway in 2010. Josh Nelms won the first-ever Cabin Fever event coming from the outside of the front row, leading all 75 laps en route to the victory. Three different drivers won the event at Plymouth Speedway, including Nelms, Chad Poorman, and Brian Hopkins. In 2013 the event was moved to Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.

David Bice was the first event winner at Lucas Oil leading 36 of the 40 laps. The following year in 2014, eventual series champion, Jason Atkinson won the event. In 2015, the season-opening event moved to DeGraff, Ohio and Shadybowl Speedway where Colby Lane grabbed the win. The Cabin Fever namesake race, however, returned for the next event at Lucas Oil where Colby Lane won again. In 2016 the Cabin Fever returned to Lucas Oil as the opening event on the schedule for two more years with Jeff Lane (2016) and Chuck Barnes, Jr (2017) collecting wins.

Shadybowl Speedway hosted the Cabin Fever in 2018, a race won by Brett Hudson. Due to weather, the 2019 Cabin Fever was canceled and Anderson Speedway hosted the season-opener for the CRA Street Stocks, won by Bret Miles, Jr. Due to the unique circumstances the world faced in 2020, the CRA Street Stocks didn’t begin their season until the end of May at Lebanon I-44 Speedway in Lebanon, MO. The season opener returned to Anderson Speedway in 2021 after the Cabin Fever was canceled again. When the event went back to Shadybowl Speedway in 2022, Atkinson became only the second driver in the history of the CRA Street Stocks to win multiple season-opening events joining Colby Lane (2015 & 2020).

Since 2005 over 200 races have been contested with the CRA Street Stocks with over 700 different drivers. In that time, 13 different champions have been crowned. This season, Jason Atkinson has a chance to make history by winning an unprecedented three-in-a-row. Only two drivers have ever gone back-to-back as CRA Street Stock Champions; Atkinson twice (2014-2015 & 2021-2022) and Joe Beaver (2006-2007). Atkinson already holds down two historic categories with most wins (22) and most championships (4).

Fans who wish to attend the Cabin Fever 75 from Shadybowl Speedway can get tickets at the gate on Sunday, April 2nd. Grandstands open at Noon ET with racing beginning at 2:00 PM ET. Racing alongside the CRA Street Stocks is the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman, open-wheel Modifieds, and Vores Compact Touring Series.

For more information on the CRA Street Stocks, including a full schedule, results, and more log onto www.CRA-Racing.com. To keep up with everything happening with the Champion Racing Association, follow CRA: Champion Racing Association on Facebook and @CRARacing on Twitter.

When it comes to racing tour-type modifieds nobody has a hotter hand than Matt Hirschman.

Hirschman recorded 28 wins in 49 starts last season. Among his 28 wins were wins in three of the first four races on the SMART Modified Tour, one of which was a victory last April at South Boston Speedway.

This season, the Northampton, Pennsylvania resident won four straight tour-type Modified races at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna, Florida during Florida Speedweeks in February. After that, he went on to win the 2023 SMART Modified Tour opener at Florence, South Carolina.

“It was good to get off to a good start in Florida, get some wins early in the season and try to build some positive momentum and continue it,” Hirschman said. “We were able to do that last year, and hopefully we can do the same again this year.”

Hirschman will be returning to South Boston Speedway for The Flying VA Classic, a 99-lap race for the SMART Modified Tour that will be the feature event of the URW Credit Union Fools Rush 262 racing program on Saturday afternoon, April 1. The first race of the day is set for a 3 p.m. start.

“I really enjoyed what we did last spring by going to the first four SMART races because two of them were at tracks I had never raced on, and at South Boston, I had had only one prior start and it dated back to 2006,” Hirschman said. “I feel it (knowledge of South Boston Speedway) came back to me pretty quick. I had to make some adjustments to the car, but they were very common things. We unloaded pretty close for not having had any recent experience at the track. We were really happy with the adjustments we made in practice. We were fast in qualifying and qualified on the pole. We had a good race and were able to make passes.

“I came away from the entire day very impressed with the facility, the racing surface and the type of racing we could put on there,” he added. “I was very happy we attended, and we are definitely looking forward to coming back again.”

Hirschman feels good about the possibility of he and the Pee Dee Motorsports team having another good day in Saturday’s Flying VA Classic at South Boston Speedway.

“You never know how the race is going to go,” Hirschman pointed out. “I don’t know how much the track changes year-to-year, and we don’t know what the weather is going to be in comparison to last year, but I feel we should be good right off of the truck and be in the hunt right from the start.”

Fans attending Saturday afternoon’s URW Credit Union Fools Rush 262 racing program at South Boston Speedway can expect to see great action and great competition in the 99-lap SMART Modified Tour race.

“I expect a quality field of cars,” Hirschman remarked. “I think a lot of people want to race at South Boston Speedway, so I believe you’re going to see a real good event. You might see some non-regulars join in with the SMART Tour regulars. We’ll do the best job we can regardless of who we are competing against to put ourselves in a position to win.”

Hirschman said he enjoyed last year’s SMART Modified Tour event at South Boston Speedway.

“It seemed like there was a nice turnout of fans,” he noted. “I crossed over to the grandstand side and watched the Late Model Stock Car race. I was really impressed with the facility, and I think it is one of the premier short tracks that I have ever been to. I was glad to get to come back because it gives you a refresh and reminds you of what a nice place and speedway it is.”

Four races are scheduled on the Saturday, April 1 URW Credit Union Fools Rush 262 racing program. Along with The Flying VA Classic 99-lap race for the SMART Modified Tour race fans will see twin 71-lap races for the Sentara Healthcare Late Model Stock Car Division and a 21-lap race for the competitors in the Virginia State Police HEAT Hornets Division.

Fans will have an opportunity to meet their favorite SMART Stars during an autograph session to be held behind the main grandstand immediately following qualifying.

The tentative URW Credit Union Fools Rush 262 event-day schedule has frontstretch spectator gates opening at 10:45 a.m. Practice is set to start at 11 a.m., qualifying is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. and the first of the day’s four races is set to get the green flag at 3 p.m.

“We struggled a bit last week, but managed to finish in the top-10 for the second week in a row. A lot of credit to my team for staying after it and salvaging a solid finish. Martin Doubek cannot get enough of turning laps in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series. The Czech will return to powerhouse Hendriks Motorsport to do double duty in both championships – EuroNASCAR PRO and EuroNASCAR 2. The 2021 EuroNASCAR 2 Champion will once again be behind the wheel of the Dutch team's #7 Ford Mustang and compete for the Challenger Trophy in EuroNASCAR PRO and the overall win in EuroNASCAR 2. Since joining the series in 2015, Doubek has enjoyed the pure and close racing of Europe's official NASCAR championship.

The native of Litomysl has competed in more than 100 NWES races in his career to date, earning a total of seven EuroNASCAR 2 race wins. The 28-year-old is eager to add more race and Trophy wins to his tally and is spending the winter preparing to be in perfect shape to take on six of the best tracks in Europe. With Hendriks Motorsport again at his side, Doubek has a well-rehearsed top team behind him. As a result, Doubek has set a lofty goal: "I want to compete for the win in every race of the 2023 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season."

"I enjoy the great atmosphere in EuroNASCAR and I'm looking forward to racing at my home track in Most again," said Doubek, who is still in search of his first win on home soil. "I've been competing in EuroNASCAR for seven years and I've been karting since I was a teenager. Experience will be key as I chase more race wins and climb back to the top of the standings in the 2023 season. I'm ready to fight for the top spots and I'm hungry for more visits to Victory Lane.”

Racing runs through the veins of the Czech, who is responsible for running a company in his home country. The edgy driver, who showed his potential especially in his championship-winning season in 2021, will remain "not straight" in his approach and try to leave another mark in the history books of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series. With the team of Roy and Joep Hendriks, the 28-year-old will certainly be in one of the top cars in the 2023 NWES season.

The 2023 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season will kick off May 6-7 at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain. All qualifying and race sessions will be streamed live on EuroNASCAR's YouTube channel, Motorsport.tv and various television services around the world. The No. 7 Ford Mustang has to be on the list of potential winners this year, and with double duty, Doubek is sure to have a lot of fun with a total of 24 EuroNASCAR races.

No. 20 Safeway / ACME Toyota GR Supra News and Notes

  • RICHMOND REDEMPTION: John Hunter Nemechek heads to Richmond Raceway eyeing his first NASCAR Xfinity Series victory at the .75-mile track. Last season, Nemechek started second, won stage one, and led a race-high 135 laps. In the closing laps, he and teammate Ty Gibbs waged a fierce back-and-forth battle for the lead before Gibbs eventually bumped Nemechek out of the way in turns 3 and 4 on the final lap to win the race with Nemechek finishing second. For Nemechek, it was his second consecutive top-three result at Richmond after finishing third in September 2021.
  • RICHMOND WINNER: Nemechek is a former Richmond winner in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. In 2021, he led 114 of 250 laps and won a stage on the way to a victory at the Virginia short track. Last season, he started seventh and finished second in both stages before ultimately ending up second in the Truck Series race at Richmond.
  • STARTING UP FRONT: Nemechek leads all Xfinity Series regulars with a 4.7-average starting position so far this season.
  • COTA RECAP: Nemechek ran solidly inside the top 10 for most of last weekend’s race at Circuit of the Americas before being spun out in the closing laps. Prior to the misfortune that left him with a 27th-place finish, Nemechek was running sixth and in position to qualify for the Dash 4 Cash.
  • SAFEWAY / ACME: Nemechek’s No. 20 Toyota GR Supra will feature Safeway and ACME as the primary sponsors this weekend at Richmond Raceway. Both companies are supermarket chains operating as banners of Albertsons Companies, one of the largest food and drug retailers in the United States and the District of Columbia.
  • JGR AT RICHMOND: Joe Gibbs Racing owns 11 Xfinity Series victories at Richmond Raceway. In 116 combined starts at the track, the organization has racked up 31 top-five finishes, 60 top-10s, nine pole awards, and 2,539 laps led. Christopher Bell, Kyle Busch, Ty Gibbs, and Denny Hamlin have all driven JGR entries to victory lane in Richmond.
  • TUNE IN: Coverage of this weekend’s Xfinity Series race at Richmond Raceway is scheduled for Saturday, April 1, at 1 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1, MRN Radio and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

John Hunter Nemechek, Driver of the No. 20 Safeway / ACME Toyota GR Supra

What makes you so good at Richmond?

“I think it’s a place that fits my style. It’s a short track, but with the worn out surface, you also have to take care of your stuff because we typically see some long runs at Richmond. I’ve also been very fortunate to have driven for some great teams the past few years with JGR, KBM and also Sam Hunt Racing. It’s definitely a place that allows the driver to come into play, so I like that aspect to be able to manage the car and the tires. This is a race I really want to win. After how last year ended, there’s definitely a redemption factor and I want to make the most of the opportunity we have this weekend.”
