Diabetes Awareness Ambassador Ryan Rice to “Ride” with Ryan Reed in Charlotte

Drive to Stop DiabetesSM representative Ryan Rice will “ride” along with Roush Fenway Racing driver Ryan Reed during Friday night’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.  Rice will have his name featured on a decal above the passenger-side window of the No. 16 Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang as part of the joint campaign to spread awareness and education about diabetes.

Like Reed, Rice has diabetes and knows the importance of staying healthy to manage the disease.  Through working with his doctor, eating healthy and exercising, Rice successfully lives with diabetes and is an inspiration for those who live with it.

Rice is part of the planning committees for two signature fundraising events by the American Diabetes Association®, Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes®, a walk, and Tour de Cure®, a cycling ride.  Rice’s favorite ways to stay healthy include walking and standing as much as possible while at work, as well as enjoying the outdoors by strolling around Lake Wylie.  In addition, Rice speaks openly about diabetes in an effort to help other members of the diabetes community.

“It’s no small task to make major lifestyle changes that benefit your health, so I commend Ryan Rice for doing just that,” said Reed.  “It’s awesome to see Ryan’s participation in the Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes and his willingness to help others and be a voice for the diabetes community.”

Reed and the “Riding with Ryan” program roll into Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend for the second time this season.  Earlier this season, Reed finished 19th at the 1.5-mile track after starting 15th.
