Iron Source, Meding’s Seafood Join Preece At Dover

For the eighth consecutive event at Dover International Speedway, two local businesses have stepped up to sponsor a NASCAR Xfinity Series team.

The JD Motorsports No. 01 Chevrolet driven by Berlin, Conn., driver Ryan Preece will carry marketing support from a pair of area enterprises. Teaming up to back the No. 01 in the Saturday, Oct. 1 Drive Sober 200 Xfinity event on the Dover high banks are Iron Source, with locations in Smyrna and Georgetown, and Meding’s Seafood in Milford.

Preece, 25, is the youngest NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion in history, having taken the title in 2013. Preece made his Xfinity debut in 2013 and, last season drove in the final four NASCAR Sprint Cup season events for the Premium Motorsports No. 98 operation.

Preece is racing his first full Xfinity Series season in 2016 for JD Motorsports, competing for Rookie of the Year.

JD Motorsports is owned by Johnny Davis and is based in Gaffney, S.C. The team operates three full-time operations in the NASCAR Xfinity Series: the No. 01 operation driven by Preece, the No. 4 (driven by Ross Chastain) and No. 0 (driven by Garrett Smithley) teams. 

The Drive Sober 200 gets the green flag at 3 p.m. pm Saturday, October 1 and will be televised live on NBCSN.
