Garrett Smithley piloted the JD Motorsports with Gary Keller No. 9 Chevrolet to a 19th-place finish in Saturday’s Drive For Safety 300 Xfinity Series race at Chicagoland Speedway.
The race was Smithley’s first at the fast 1.5-mile track.
“We would have liked to finish a little better, but it was a fun day,” Smithley said. “I really like the track. We logged a bunch of laps and got in some good runs. We’ll get better from here.”
Smithley stayed in 18th in Xfinity Series points as the regular season ended.
