Chastain 33rd at Road America

Ross Chastain fought through transmission troubles to finish 33rd in Saturday’s Road America 180 at the Road America road course.

Chastain’s Chevrolet developed transmission problems during the first green-flag pit stop. Late in the race, the car started smoking, and Chastain drove it behind the wall for a transmission replacement. He lost only five laps as the JD Motorsports with Gary Keller team made a quick change.

“It was a hard day for us,” Chastain said. “Early trouble with the transmission, but the guys responded to it and then got us back on the track late. Not the finish we wanted, but we bounced back well.”

Chastain is 15th in Xfinity driver points.
