Corey LaJoie Scores Career Best 10th Place Finish at Bristol

After a month break since his last completion in the NASCAR XFINITY Series, Corey LaJoie returned to action at one of his favorite tracks – “The Last Great Colosseum” at Bristol Motor Speedway.  LaJoie didn’t disappoint as he piloted his No. 24 youtheory Toyota to a career best 10th place finish in the running of the Food City 300.
“That was a lot of fun out there tonight,” said LaJoie.  “We struggled with being a little tight throughout the race but the guys on this JGL Racing team stuck behind me and we never gave up.  We gambled a little bit to gain some track position and we had some good luck fall our way for a change as well.”
LaJoie would start the 300-lap event from the 20th position as a result of his qualifying effort.  The No. 24 youtheory Toyota would ride around the top-20 until the first caution flew at lap75 with Corey reporting that he couldn’t carry speed into the corner like he needed too due to a tight condition.  The JGL Racing crew, under the direction of crew chief Steve Gray, went to work with necessary adjustments.  Another caution at the halfway mark of the race would allow for further adjustments however for the second time in as many pit stops the No. 24 youtheory Toyota was penalized for speeding on pit road.
Still battling some tightness in the center of the corner, some strategy calls were made to take a wave around and gain back some lost track position.  From there, LaJoie would take charge and guide his No. 24 youtheory Toyota inside the top-15 with only 50 laps remaining in the race.  With some late on track action and a little overtime, Corey kept his nose clean to come home with his NASCAR XFINITY Series career best 10th place finish.
“We had a top-10 run going our last race out in Loudon before a mechanical failure ruined our day – so it feels awesome to have things fall our way this time and get a great finish,” added Corey.  “I appreciate everyone at JGL Racing standing behind me and never giving up throughout the weekend.  It is awesome to get youtheory and this race team a top-10 finish – and be the highest finishing Toyota of the race.”
LaJoie will return to the seat of the No. 24 youtheory Toyota at Dover International Speedway for the running of the Drive Sober 200 on Saturday October 1st.
