Austin Dillon Leads Laps before Collection in an Early Incident Forces him to a 28th-Place Finish

“This Rheem Camaro team never gives up. We got caught up in the incident in the beginning of the race. I told myself on the restart I needed to get down to the bottom lane. I guess I just didn’t get there fast enough. It’s a product of guys racing too hard too early. We only had six or seven laps until the competition caution. We got back to the garage and every Rheem crew member had a hand in getting this car back on track. We weren’t going to get a DNF. You’ll have these nights. It’s racing. We had a fast car, led laps and almost had us another pole award.”

Late-Race Shuffle Forces Ty Dillon to Battle from Behind and Finish 14th at Daytona

“We just ran into some bad luck again with these restrictor plate races. I had a chance to run up front and lead a few laps in this Bass Pro Shops / NRA Museum Chevy, and the car was good while we were up there. We dodged a few bullets in the opening laps with those big wrecks, which really could have messed up our night. I’m disappointed with 14th but understand things happen in superspeedway races.”

Brandon Jones Finishes 29th at Daytona International Speedway After Being Collected In Early Accident

“It was just a rough day overall after that wreck early on. I knew something like this was coming. We have had a lot of success on the restrictor-plate tracks this year and had never been collected in a wreck. Just a great effort by all the guys on the crew to get us back out there. I knew the car was heavily damaged, but I was confident the guys could patch it back together. They got us back out pretty quickly and worked in a tactical manner. Hopefully we didn’t fall too much in the points. I’d like to thank the folks from Florida Lottery for their support in partnering with us this weekend.”

Gaughan Tops Off Successful Restrictor Plate Season with Top-Five Finish at Daytona International Speedway

“All-in-all, a great restrictor plate season. I’ve always felt I was a good plate racer but never had the finishes to prove it. Good pit stops and strategy with a great spotter in Kevin Hamlin. When we got shuffled back, we just waited for the holes. We remained aggressive and had a great pit stop. Everyone and everything worked exceptional tonight, and that’s always a fun night. A top-five finish at Daytona, as well as, making it through restrictor plate season in the same South Point Chevy for three races, is something to be proud of.”
