Drew Herring Innocent Victim in Iowa

Drew Herring returned to the seat of the No. 24 JGL Racing “Young Guns” Toyota at a track where he has had much success.  However, the Benson, North Carolina native was a victim of other drivers mistakes as he was relegated to a disappointing 29th place finish in the running of the American Ethanol E15 250 at Iowa Speedway.
“This definitely wasn’t the result we were looking for,” said Herring.  “We were real loose there early in the race but we made some good adjustments and were getting the car better. But unfortunately we got wrecked twice which ended our day.”
Drew would start the 250-lap event from the 13th position as a result of his qualifying effort.  When the competition caution flew on lap 40, Herring reported that his No. 24 Toyota was very loose.  The JGL Racing crew went to work and made key adjustments during pit stops in the first half of the race.  With his car handling better, Drew would push forward and close in on the top-10.
Disaster would strike for the first time on lap 190 when a fellow competitor slid up into the No. 24 Toyota forcing it into the outside wall.  The JGL Racing crew went to work with repairs returning Herring to the track.  The day would end on lap 218 as another competitor would make contact with Drew sending him spinning down the front stretch.  The damage from these two incidents would send the No. 24 Toyota to the garage and a disappointing finish.
“I want to thank everyone at JGL Racing for their hard work,” added Drew.  “We were headed for a solid finish and that got ruined by mistakes from other drivers.  It is very disappointing since I am not racing full-time and each race is more important.”
After a much welcomed upcoming off week, the JGL Racing team will head to Daytona International Speedway for the running of the Subway Firecracker 250.  The 15th race of the NASCAR XFINITY Series season will be Friday July 1st and can be seen LIVE on NBC Sports Network at 7:30 pm ET.  It can also be heard on Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM Channel 90.
