Adversity Results in 23rd Place Finish for Yeley

The Hisense 4K TV 300 proved challenging for JJ Yeley in the No. 44 Zachry Toyota. Starting the 200 lap event, in the 25th position, JJ Yeley quickly advanced to 13th. Under caution, he reported the No. 44 did not have any front grip. Crew Chief Frank Kerr called Yeley to pit making some much needed adjustments. Yeley settled back into the field and quickly advanced to seventh by lap 43. Through a series of cautions and pit stops the crew continued to make adjustments. Making slight contact with the wall on lap 85, Yeley radioed the right front tire may be going down in addition to a lower than average temperature reading. Pitting for adjustments, Yeley returned to the field in the 26th position. Soon thereafter, the handling worsened and Yeley relayed the Zachry Toyota was “wicked tight”. It was at the completion of the race where it was determined at some point the Zachry Toyota had sustained significant damage to the grill opening. Through adversity and hard fought efforts, JJ Yeley and the No. 44 team secured a 23rd place finish at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

JJ Yeley:  “It was a trying day. We realized after the race, I hit something and knocked the grill opening out. The No. 44 guys and pit crew worked hard all day and unfortunately we did not secure the finish we had hoped for with the Zachry Toyota.”
