Erik Jones Scores Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 Pole

Erik Jones captured the pole for Saturday’s Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Jones posted a 15.239 seconds, 125.914 mph. around the 0.533-mile oval in Tennessee. However, this weekend will have a little twist, as NASCAR will debut its new Dash4Cash format with two 50-lap heat races. Jones will start on the pole in the first heat race. The Michigan native paced round two and three.

Austin Dillon finished the final round as the second fastest driver. Dillon posted a 15.284 lap, which translates into 125.543 mph. around the small oval. His best time came on his third time around after taking four laps in the final round. Dillon will start on the pole in the second heat race.

Jeb Burton will start 16th after ending round one as the fastest driver in his No. 43 machine. Burton enters Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend making his ninth career XFINITY Series start.

Joe Gibbs Racing machines have been dominating in XFINITY Series qualifying. However, that wasn’t the case today despite Erik Jones winning the pole. Daniel Suarez finished the final round in fourth and Kyle Busch ended the session as the fifth fastest driver.

Suarez made some contact with the wall in turn two after getting loose at the exit of the corner. The team will more than likely need to fix the damage before heat races begin later today. The damage wasn’t major and did not throw a red flag.

Two drivers did not make the race. Those were Morgan Shepherd and Carl Long. There were no incidents throughout the three rounds of XFINITY Series qualifying.
