NXS: Kyle Busch Earns Ford EcoBoost 300 Pole

The final round of NASCAR XFINITY Series qualifying was canceled after rain made an appearance at the 1.5-mile Homestead-Miami Speedway. NASCAR was able to get two of the three rounds of qualifying in before the rain arrived.

Kyle Busch was fastest in round two of qualifying and will start on the pole. Busch posted a time and speed of 32.116 seconds, 168.140 mph. when the second round came to a close. The Las Vegas native will start on the pole in the series for the 48th time of his career. Busch has six wins, 11 top five and 11 top 10 finishes in 2015.

Daniel Suarez will start right beside his teammate when the Ford EcoBoost 300 goes green. The native from Mexico was 0.018 seconds slower than the pole sitter when the second round of qualifying expired. Suarez comes into the weekend looking to become the first Hispanic to earn the Sunoco Rookie of the Year title.

Austin Dillon ended the second round of qualifying in third behind the wheel of the No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet. Dillon posted a time and speed of 32.284 seconds, 167.266 mph. after only turning one lap. The 2013 XFINITY Series champion has four wins, 12 top five and 15 top 10 finishes through 19 starts.

The Ford EcoBoost 300 will be one of the biggest races for the series point’s leader Chris Buescher. The driver must finish 13th or better without leading a lap in order to clinch the 2015 driver championship. The Texas native will start 11th when the field receives the green. Defending champion Chase Elliott trails Buescher by 18 points and will start 13th in the race. Other championship contenders include Ty Dillon and Regan Smith. Those two drivers will start 10th and 14th in the race.

Morgan Shepherd will be the only DNQ as 41 drivers filled the entry list.
