Flat-Tire Leads to 19th-Place Finish for Bubba Wallace in Texas

Bubba Wallace, driver of the No. 6 Fastenal Ford Mustang, charged through the field in the early stages of the NASCAR XFINITY Series event at Texas Motor Speedway after having to start at the rear before a flat right-front tire ultimately led to a 19th-place finish.

“Luck just wasn’t on our side today,” said Wallace after the race. “We were able to make up a lot of ground after having to start in the back and it’s just unfortunate that we had to pit under green there. I want to thank everyone on this team for their hard work this weekend. We’ll go get them next week in Phoenix.”

Wallace was scheduled to start the 200-Lap event from the seventh position but had to move to the rear of the field after having to run a back-up car following an incident in practice on Friday afternoon. Wallace wasted little time moving forward once the green came out, marching his way into the top 20 by Lap 6.

While battling for the 16th position on Lap 11, Wallace radioed in to crew chief Seth Barbour that he had a right-front tire going down and was forced to make an unscheduled pit stop under green. The driver of the No. 6 Fastenal Ford returned to the track in the 35th position, one lap behind the race leaders.

In a race that saw several long green flag runs, Wallace never gave up despite the loss of track position and raced his way back into the top 20 just past the three-quarter mark of the event.

In the closing stages, the Roush Fenway Racing driver would bring the Fastenal Ford home in the 19th position.
