NXS: Paul Menard Captures Third Career XFINITY Series Win at Road America

Paul Menard took home the race win in the sixth annual Road America 180 Fired Up by Johnsonville on Saturday afternoon at Road America. Menard, a native of Wisconsin, took the green flag in the eighth starting position when the event got underway. The win on Saturday marks his third career victory in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. The 34-year old made his 197th career start in the series on Saturday.

Ryan Blaney did all he could in the closing laps to get around Menard in his No. 22 Discount Tire Ford. Blaney started the day in the third position and capitalized on other drivers running out of fuel later in the race to bring home the runner-up spot. The 21-year old has six top five and seven top 10 finishes in eight starts.

Brian Scott will leave Road America with a third-place finish behind the wheel of his No. 2 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing. Scott started the afternoon in the fifth position when the green flag dropped. The native from Idaho now holds four top five and 15 top 10 finishes this season. He continues to search for his first NASCAR XFINITY Series victory.

Chase Elliott brought home a fourth-place finish despite leading the most laps. The Georgia native started the afternoon in second behind the wheel of his No. 9 NAPA Chevrolet. The young driver goes into Darlington next week still searching for that first win of the season.

Chris Buescher, who finished in ninth, will lead the NASCAR XFINITY Series driver points standings after Road America. Buescher will sit 16 points in front of Elliott as they head to Darlington Raceway next weekend. Ty Dillon, Regan Smith and Elliott Sadler will all round out the top five.

The VFW Sport Clips Help a Hero 200 will air on NBC at 3:30 p.m. ET. on Saturday. Fans can also listen to live radio coverage of the event provided by the Motor Racing Network.
