NXS: Kenny Wallace: “Final Start Not a Sad Moment”

Kenny Wallace will strap into the seat of a NASCAR XFINITY Series car for the final time of his career on Saturday at the Iowa Speedway. Wallace, 51, has been one of those drivers that everyone goes crazy for both on and off the track. His impression touches everyone when he appears on FOX Sports.

A lot of people know Wallace as a NASCAR driver while others might know him for his skills on dirt. The Missouri native has made numerous appearances on dirt tracks all over the United Sates. Wallace is one of those drivers who follows a love for racing no matter which vehicle it might be.

He also has developed a love for NASCAR broadcasting. Wallace currently appears on numerous FOX Sports programing, including select NASCAR XFINITY Series qualifying and practice broadcasts. He is most known for his appearance on NASCAR Race Day.

Wallace doesn’t see his final start as a sad thing.

“To me, this isn’t a sad moment,” Wallace said in a release. “I’m at a truly happy place in my life right now. I’ve had a long and successful career, and I’ve been able to support my family doing what I love. To me, it doesn’t get any better than that. I’m really proud of everything that I’ve been able to accomplish in NASCAR.”

Wallace did not have a favorite moment throughout his career but rather a sweet spot.

“There was a sweet spot. From 1991 to 2000. That’s where I won my nine NASCAR XFINITY Series races,” Wallace told Speedway Digest. “That was the time that I learned to keep coming back as a driver. Every time I got into a good car I performed and that’s what kept me in the sport.”

Wallace has 898 career starts across the three NASCAR national Series. The 51-year old driver has captured nine wins, 74 top five and 204 top 10 finishes since making his first start in 1988.
