American Diabetes Association Youth Ambassador Hannah Jordan to ‘Ride with Ryan’

American Diabetes Association® Youth Ambassador Hannah Jordan will ride along with Roush Fenway Racing driver Ryan Reed during Saturday night’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Daytona International Speedway (DIS). The Sarasota, Fla. native will have her name featured on a decal above the passenger-side door on the No. 16 Lilly Diabetes American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang.

Jordan was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2013 at age 11. Instead of letting the disease slow her down, she uses it as an opportunity to impact the lives of others.

“Yes my life is different, in a driven and dedicated way,” said Jordan. “I have a new opportunity now that I didn’t have before, and I can make a difference in diabetes by educating other kids and helping them with their new life.”

Like Reed, Jordan is also “racing for a cure” through her participation in the American Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure® cycling event. She stays active the rest of the year by playing softball, soccer and basketball.

Jordan says she didn’t want to “just sit back and have diabetes.” Her passion for finding a cure and becoming a role model for others with the disease led her to create a website called Carb Crunching Kids, which provides resources and encouragement for other kids living with the disease as well as information for parents.

“It’s amazing what Hannah has been able to accomplish since her diagnosis,” said Reed. “Her dedication to helping others is inspiring and makes her a great role model for the Drive to Stop Diabetes program. Hopefully we can bring home another win at DIS this weekend with Hannah riding along.”

Ryan Reed and the ‘Riding with Ryan’ program roll into DIS this weekend for a 100-lap event on the high-banked superspeedway. Reed will attempt to sweep the season at DIS after picking up his first career win at the 2.5-mile trioval in February.
