NXS: Austin Dillon Wins Hisense 300 Pole at Charlotte

Austin Dillon captured his fourth NASCAR XFINITY Series pole of the season on Saturday at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Dillon posted a lap of 29.250 seconds, 184.615 mph. in the final round of knockout qualifying. The North Carolina native finished the first and second round in fourth and second.

Darrell Wallace Jr. will start the 34th annual Hisense 300 in the runner-up starting spot. Wallace posted a time of 29.285 seconds, 184.395 mph. The rookie of the year contender will make his fifth top 10 start of the year. Wallace was 0.035 seconds short of scoring his second XFINITY Series pole.

Brian Scott continues to search for his first career NASCAR XFINITY Series victory this weekend at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Scott will have a good chance to accomplish that goal as he will start the race in third. The Idaho native posted a fast time of 29.380 seconds, 183.799 mph.

The first round of qualifying ended up being pretty eventful as it was halted two different times. Chad Boat spun during his qualifying run along the frontstretch, similar as he did in final practice on Thursday that tore the nose off the car. The team qualified 33rd for the race just before tearing the nose off as it spun through the grass. The second halt was for debris after the No. 24 of Eric McClure lost his right side window. Rounds two and three were all clean. The two breaks were beneficial to several cars as they had problems going through pre-qualifying inspection.

Two cars failed to make the race as 42 drivers showed up for the race. Those cars were Mike Harmon and Derrike Cope.
