Handling challenges result in 33rd-place finish for Weller in Richmond

Jimmy Weller and the No. 90 MyVideoLibrary.com / Geneva-Liberty Steel Chevrolet Camaro team finished 33rd at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway on Saturday night.  Competing in just his second NASCAR XFINITY Series race of the season, Weller and his team fought the balance of their racecar throughout the night to ultimately cross the finish line in the 33rd position.

In just his second NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Richmond International Raceway, Weller spent most of the day becoming reacquainted with the 0.75-mile track.  Throughout practice, the driver struggled with driving off the corners.  However, by qualifying, Weller was very pleased with the overall drive of the MyVideoLibrary.com / Geneva-Liberty Steel Chevrolet and noted that it was much more predictable around the entire track.

Rolling off 34th for Saturday’s 250-lap race, Weller fought the balance of his MyVideoLibrary.com / Geneva-Liberty Steel Chevrolet Camaro from early in the race.  Within the opening 20 laps, Weller radioed his crew to report that the problem they experienced in practice had returned.  The driver of the No. 90 Chevrolet Camaro requested help getting his car to turn through the late center of the corner, and his team immediately began devising a plan.  Taking advantage of caution flags, the MyVideoLibrary.com / Geneva-Liberty Steel team worked through a variety of air pressure and chassis adjustments, but nothing seemed to help the way Weller needed.  Despite their challenges, Weller was able to avoid any trouble on the track and cross the finish line in the 33rd position.

“We had a challenging night tonight, but we learned so much,” Weller said.  “At this stage in my career, it’s important to learn as much as I possibly can, and I feel like we accomplished that tonight in our MyVideoLibrary.com / Geneva-Liberty Steel Chevrolet.  It was a challenge to get the car handling exactly as I wanted, but we were able to work through a variety of changes and expanded our notebook for the races we’ll be competing in later this year.  I can’t thank my guys enough for all their hard work; I know they put in a lot of long hours to get ready for this weekend, and continued the hard work when we arrived at the track.  Competing in the NASCAR XFINITY Series is a dream come true, and I couldn’t be more excited to continue our season at Charlotte Motor Speedway next month.”
