Ross Chastain rallied from a mid-race accident to finish 17th in Friday night’s ToyotaCare 250 Xfinity Series race at Richmond International Raceway.
The finish is Chastain’s fourth in the top 20 in eight races this season. He is 13th in Xfinity driver points.
Chastain, driving the Watermelon.org Chevrolet for JD Motorsports with Gary Keller, slid in the loose stuff near the wall on lap 146 to bring out a caution flag. He dropped to 30th place but climbed steadily over the remaining 100 laps to score the strong finish.
“We had a good car all night,” Chastain said. “I got a little too high there that one time and messed things up, but we came back strong. It was another good night overall.”
