NXS: Hisense 250 Race Preview

JOPLIN, Mo. – The NASCAR XFINITY Series will leave Daytona and head to the Atlanta Motor Speedway for the 24th annual Hisense 250. The race marks the second stop on the series calendar in 2015. Kevin Harvick, who will pilot the No. 88 Chevrolet for JR Motorsports, will come into the race as the defending winner.

A total of 40 entries make up the Hisense 250 entry list for Saturday’s race. Some of these include Cody Ware, Chris Cockrum, Daniel Suarez, Matt Kenseth, Joey Logano, John Wes Townley, Paul Menard, Carl Long, Erik Jones, Jimmy Weller and Sam Hornish Jr.

Fans attending the race on Saturday will have the chance to see some of the biggest Sprint Cup Series stars. The Sprint Cup Series veterans have always been strong at the 1.54-mile oval in the past. With Harvick’s win last season, it tied Mark Martin for the most wins at the track. If Harvick is able to take the No. 88 Chevrolet to victory lane, it will surpass the mark set by Martin.

Ross Chastain will lead the Sunoco Rookie of the Year points standings heading into the second race of the brand-new 2015 season. Chastain comes into Atlanta with a three point lead over Darrell Wallace Jr. following his run in the Alert Today Florida 300. In addition to his fourth-place finish last Saturday, he comes into the week sitting fifth in points.

Ty Dillon comes into the weekend looking to have a strong run that will help him reach the championship at the end of the season. Last year, making his first start at the track in the series, Dillon qualified 14th and brought home a finish of ninth. He captured the win in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race back in 2012.

The NASCAR XFINITY Series will have two practice sessions on Friday morning with qualifying scheduled at 9:10 a.m. Et. on Saturday. You catch watch the Hisense 250 at 2:00 p.m. Et. on FOX Sports 1. The Performance Racing Network will carry the live radio broadcast.
