Ambrose lends a hand to help deserving family in Texas

Marcos Ambrose, driver of the No. 9 Stanley Ford, partnered with Stanley, Do it Best Corp and Habitat for Humanity for the third annual “Hammering for Habitat” project on Wednesday, April 11 in Fort Worth, Texas. Ambrose assisted in building a new home with the Barnes family, who is currently living in a two-bedroom apartment that has severe mold problems and flooding issues. Ms. Barnes has four children under the age of nine and is currently working toward her B.A. in Social Work. Ambrose spent the majority of Wednesday afternoon helping with the framing portion of the house ahead of the Samsung Mobile 500 race festivities at Texas Motor Speedway.

Comments from Marcos Ambrose:

“I was honored to participate in Stanley, Do it Best Corp and Habitat for Humanity’s third annual ‘Hammering for Habitat’ program in Fort Worth on Wednesday. In just over a year since I’ve been working with Stanley and DEWALT, I’ve had the opportunity to get involved in several different charitable events, and I can tell you that it’s always a highlight of a race weekend for me. Through their strong partnership with all of the local Do it Best stores and Trinity Habitat for Humanity, we got to raise the first walls of what is soon to be a safe, decent home for the incredibly deserving Barnes family. My family and I are fortunate to live in a happy, healthy home and I’m glad we could all be a part of making that dream a reality for Ms. Barnes and her four children this week.”

“It was a very fulfilling experience and I had a great time with Ms. Barnes. We worked on the framing portion of the house putting up the walls all afternoon, she can sure use a hammer and even taught me a thing or two. We got some sunburns and I missed the nail and hit my finger a few times, but all-in-all it was a great day of building. We did a house build last year and I always enjoy when I get to utilize my sponsor Stanley and DEWALT’s tools, especially for things like this. I like fixing things and working on cars so Wednesday’s Habitat build was right up my alley. It was really neat to step back at the end of the day and admire our accomplishments. I can’t wait to see pictures of the finished project. I am sure it is going to be an awesome looking house when it is completed.”
