RCR Gets New Look with Red Kap & Media Stop Review

Richard Childress Racing has announced that they are partnering with Red Kap as the exclusive outfitter for RCR employees. You might not find this story on many news sites because it is not “major news” but to a company this is huge news. With teams looking for ways to save money in every department, crew uniforms and employee wear is a major expense that they acquire. When asking RCR about how much money they spend on uniforms for crew members a response was not given in time for this article.

I would also like to note that Red Kap did a great job presenting their product to the motorsports journalists as part of the NASCAR Sprint Media Tour hosted by Charlotte Motor Speedway. Red Kap put together a very engaging video that highlighted how dirt, dust, and grime are all throughout the shop and that their product will be useful to the crew members that come in contact with these. Taking the grime idea to the next level, the press release the media received in their packets had grease marks printed on them. This was great and created a theme throughout their launch of the product, . Furthermore, the media members received a sample shirt from Red Kap, which the shirt quality is very good and I believe will be great to have for any employee at a race shop.

In addition to the Red Kap announcement last night, after an hour wait on I-85, DRIVE4COPD had one to make as well. DRIVE4COPD announced last night that Austin Dillon would be their ambassador this season. For the past several years Danica Patrick has been in the role and this season Dillon will be taking over the roles. Dillon will also be attempting to qualify for the Daytona 500 this season in what he says is a race of “family history”.

Jeff Burton will be entering another year behind the wheel at RCR and he is not only keeping an eye towards his future but that of the entire RCR company. “He has lots of hidden talent, and young drivers are bringing the money,” Burton said in regards to teammate and Childress’ grandson, Austin Dillon. Being a Maryland native myself, I found it interesting to hear Burton bring up the Ravens during his time with the media. “Ravens are in the Superbowl… they were rewarded for being hot at the right time,” Burton noted as he talked about how the Chase is a critical part to any drivers’ season.

Now we turn to the news that a lot of people already knew or at lease predicted, Kevin Harvick going to Stewart-Hass in 2014. Team owner Richard Childress said during the media tour that Harvick will be leaving at the end of the season to go to SHR, and Harvick was kind of hitting towards that during his time with the media. “2013 is going to be a character building year, I am going out there and have fun,” Harvick mentioned to media member, and went on to say, “last year wasn’t that good, but we made something out of it.”
