Cassill Shooting for Third Straight Top-20

In last week’s race at Martinsville Speedway, Landon Cassill piloted the No. 83 Burger King/Dr Pepper Toyota to a 19th-place finish. It was his second consecutive top-20 and marked an improvement of 10 positions over his previous Martinsville performance. He plans to keep the momentum rolling into this week’s AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway, where he’s aiming to rectify the 30th-place run he scored in April.

Cassill has four Cup Series starts under his belt at Texas Motor Speedway. His best finish is 26th place, which he achieved last season. In Nationwide Series competition, he’s made one start. He qualified 29th and finished 18th in 2010.

Comments from BK Racing Driver Landon Cassill heading into Texas:

“Our race at Martinsville showed how much we’ve progressed as a team. We finished 29th there earlier this season. This time we finished 19th and on the lead lap. It’s been a group effort for us to get where we are. We’ve been through a lot of growing pains, but we’re stronger for it. Martinsville reflected that.

“It would be a huge statement for us to get a third straight top-20. We haven’t done that yet and I know we’re capable of it. Hopefully the breaks will go our way and we’ll be able to achieve it this weekend. It would definitely be a nice shot in the arm for us as the season draws to a close. All of the guys on the Burger King/Dr Pepper team are going to fight for all we can.

“I’ve always liked racing at Texas. It’s a fun track and I’m looking forward to going back. We’ve had some really good runs at mile-and-a-half tracks this season. Some of our best finishes were at the intermediate tracks. We struggled a little bit at Texas when we went there in April, but I’m excited about the chance to improve on it.”
