Almirola on a Roll, Thinking Big for Texas

The hottest team not in the Sprint Cup “Chase” is Aric Almirola and his Richard Petty Motorsports crew.  The No. 43 Farmland Ford team heads to Texas Motor Speedway this week coming off two consecutive impressive runs – a fourth-place finish at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway and a dominating run that included 69 laps led at Kansas Speedway.  The team has all the confidence to continue thinking big at Texas.

Team partner Farmland returns as primary sponsor of the No. 43 at the fast Fort Worth oval.  Fans don’t have to be at the speedway, though, to see the Farmland Ford.  The No. 43 show car is making the rounds this week around the Amarillo, Lubbock and Dallas metro areas at United Supermarkets and Market Street stores.  Shoppers at any United Supermarket and Market Street stores will also have the chance to win a Farmland Track Pack, including two Richard Petty Driving Experience passes and a gift card to purchase tickets to a future race of the winner’s choice.

Sunday’s race will be Almirola’s fourth at Texas in a Sprint Cup car.  His best Cup career finish in the Lone Star state is 21st (2010).

Comments from Farmland Ford Fusion Driver Aric Almirola:

“We’re having a lot of fun right now on this 43 team.  Things are clicking, everybody’s working together as a team, and all our efforts are turning out better and better results on the racetrack.  Texas can be another good weekend for us.  We ran really strong at Charlotte and, of course, at Kansas, and Texas is a similar track.  So I don’t see any reason why we won’t unload at Texas and be really fast.

“I’m happy to have Farmland back on our Ford Fusion.  We ran up front at Kansas for a long time with that Farmland paint scheme, but it’s a shame we couldn’t finish it off for them.  We’re hoping to do that this week.  We’re definitely capable of it.”

Comments from Crew Chief Todd Parrott on Texas:

“This team is on a pretty good roll right now.  We’re putting fast cars on the track and Aric is doing a great job with them.  We got our first top-five as the 43 team last week at Martinsville, so we’ve shown we can be strong on the short track, and now we go to Texas where I think we can show again that we’re strong on the intermediate tracks.”
