Ryan Newman, Tony Stewart Surprise Race Fans With Head-to-Head Race At NASCAR SpeedPark

Ryan Newman, driver of the No. 39 Quicken Loans Chevrolet, and three-time and reigning NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Tony Stewart shocked hundreds of race fans this evening at NASCAR SpeedPark at the Concord Mills shopping center when they arrived to test their own skills at go-kart racing. What started as a fun night of free go-kart racing turned into the opportunity of a lifetime, as dozens of lucky fans had the opportunity to race around the track alongside Newman and Stewart, two of NASCAR’s most talented and popular drivers.

Just in time for this weekend’s race activities in Charlotte, Quicken Loans – the nation’s largest online mortgage lender and the creators of tonight’s event – sought to plan an event engineered to amaze and one to remember by arranging for special guest surprise appearances by Newman and Stewart. Walking from inside NASCAR SpeedPark’s main arcade area, Newman and Stewart were spotted waiting in line dressed in their full racing gear, including helmets and fire suits.

Quicken Loans team members were on site to capture reactions as the surprise moment unfolded, catching the cheers of excitement from unsuspecting fans. Newman and Stewart spent two hours following their surprise unveil racing around the go-kart track together with local fans and special guests from the Boys and Girls Club of Charlotte and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Charlotte.

“At Quicken Loans, we pride ourselves on delivering amazing service to our clients and fans – whether through the mortgage process, our sponsorship of NASCAR or putting together a free event like this one to thank fans for their support,” said Jay Farner, president and chief marketing officer at Quicken Loans. “Like all NASCAR fans, we like speed and take pride in getting clients to the finish line of their home loan faster than anyone else. We were thrilled to create a memorable night for fans at NASCAR SpeedPark and show them what our company and racing program are all about.”

As part of the event, Ryan Newman‘s No. 39 Quicken Loans Chevrolet was on display where fans had their picture taken in a mock-up of the car and entered for a chance to win one of five prize packs for the Sprint Cup race this Saturday. Fans were also able to sign-up for the Quicken Loans Skip-a-Year Mortgage Sweepstakes, which will pay up to five winners’ mortgage for all of 2013. Those unable to make the event are still able to register for the sweepstakes by visiting www.qlracing.com.
