Penalty Report – Indianapolis

Penalties have already been handed down in both the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Camping World Truck Series.

Kevin Harvick’s crew chief Rodney Childers has been given a one-race suspension, which means the leader of the No. 4 Jimmy John’s Chevrolet will not be attending the Pennsylvania 400 at Pocono Raceway this weekend. Childers has also been fined $20,000 and placed on probation through the end of the year for a lugnut violation.

If Harvick wins this weekend’s Cup event, it will not be the first time a driver has won without their ‘coach’. No. 41 Chevrolet driver Kurt Busch won the previous event back in June at the ‘tricky triangle’ while his crew chief Tony Gibson was suspended.

The No. 5 Farmers Insurance and No. 27 Valvoline/Menards Chevrolets driven by Kasey Kahne and Paul Menard recieved written warnings for failing pre-race LIS. The same warnings were also issued to the teams of (Kurt) Busch and Aric Almirola for failing pre-qualifying template inspection twice.

Austin Wayne Self’s No. 22 AM Technical Solutions Toyota was given a written warning due to truck trailing arms not meeting specifications during opening inspection.

Both series will head to Pocono Raceway for the Pocono Mountains 150 on Saturday at 1:00 PM ET and the Pennsylvania 400, which kicks off Sunday at 1:30 PM ET. Fox Sports 1 has the coverage of the trucks while the Cup event will be on NBC Sports Network. MRN and Sirius XM Channel 90 will also carry both races.
