Greg Biffle put together two fast laps to grab a front-row starting position on the grid for the 58th Annual Coke Zero 400 Powered By Coca-Cola. The driver of the No. 16 Ford Eco Boost Ford earned his 13th career pole in 491 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts on the 2.5 mile Daytona International Speedway.
The Roush-Fenway Racing driver put down lap times of 46.722 in round one and 46.643 seconds in round two to dominate this afternoon’s single-car, two-round qualifying session. For Biffle, this is the confidence he needed. “It means a lot to us. What means more is all these other teams congratulating us,” Biffle told NBC after the qualifying session concluded. “We’ve been working really hard and the Eco Boost Ford Fusion had done great. I’m just happy to be driving it.”
Biffle’s teammate, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will start fourth in tomorrow night’s race, giving RFR two of the top 10 holes on the grid. “It’s a good day for the Roush-Fenway Fords,” Stenhouse Jr. said in a post-race Ford Performance press release. ” The (No. 17) Fifth Third Ford Fusion was pretty solid and the guys have been bringing really good cars to the speedways.” Stenhouse Jr. posted times of 46.909 in the first round and 46.797 seconds in the round two.
Carl Edwards will start in the runner-up position. The No. 19 Subway Toyota driver recorded his 13th top-10 start so far this season. Edwards ran in the top four in round one with 46.855 seconds. He recorded a second-round time of 46.693 seconds. “It’s a great starting spot,” Edwards said in Toyota post-race quotes. “My guys worked really hard today getting me comfortable in the car, they changed the seat and did a bunch of stuff.”
Kyle Busch rounded out the top three with a lap time of 46.793 seconds in the round of 12. Driving the No. 18 Interstate Batteries Toyota, he earned his 11th top-10 start in 17 races in 2016. Busch finished in the top eight with a time of 46.988 seconds in round one.

I didn’t decide I wanted to pursue a career in NASCAR until the summer of 2012. I’m not a wrench head or strong enough for a pit crew so media was the next best thing. At the beginning of 2013, I started going to races and making connections within the sport. I also studied Motorsports Management at Sports Management Worldwide. I’ve been able to help the TV show gain recognition on social media. My current goal is to acquire more experience in covering NASCAR and move up the media ladder. Outside of motorsports, I have been an equine-sports statistician for 16 years.
I currently reside in Gillette, WY where I’m still involved with horses. I enjoy riding them, rodeo, swimming, traveling and meeting people.
