The Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team returns to the site of its most recent triumph, Daytona International Speedway, this weekend and is as encouraged as ever that its next trip to victory lane is coming soon, even as early as this weekend at the Coke Zero 400.
Most fans remember the improbable 2011 Daytona 500 win by Trevor Bayne, the most recent of the Wood Brothers’ five wins in the Great American Race. The historic team, however, has been even more successful in the July race at the Florida speedway. A.J. Foyt, Cale Yarborough, David Pearson, Neil Bonnett and Buddy Baker have combined for eight wins driving the No. 21 in July in Daytona.
The future continues to look bright for the Motorcraft/Quick Lane team with rookie driver Ryan Blaney posting six top-10 and 11 top-20 finishes in the season’s first 16 races.
“It’s going to be fun to be a part of the night race this year. I think it’s one of the coolest races of the year for the fans and drivers. We’ve been strong at speedways and I hope we can get out of there with a decent finish.”
