Biffle Finishes 18th at Sonoma

Greg Biffle fell just short of capitalizing on a great pit strategy call by his crew chief Brian Pattie, but had to settle for an 18th-place finish.  Biffle had a fast No. 16 Performance Plus Motor Oil Ford on long green flag runs, but untimely cautions at the end of the 110-lap race cost him valuable track position.

“We just fought all day and tried to hold our track position,” said Biffle.  “It was a really good call by Brian Pattie and the team on how to call the race.  They did a great job.  It couldn’t have worked out better for us, but that’s all we had.”

A little bad luck in qualifying left Biffle with a 32nd place starting position.  Another competitor stalled during Biffle’s lap, leaving him with an uphill battle for the start of the race.

Biffle made steady progress forward over the opening green flag run of the race and was up to 17th when he visited pit road for his second pit stop of the race.  The caution came out just after Biffle hit pit road, allowing the team plenty of time to complete the stop.  The majority of the field pitted under caution, lining up Biffle fourth for the restart.

Over a long green flag run Biffle held his ground in the top 10, but another caution for debris did not fall his way.  Biffle lost a few spots on pit road trying to maneuver out of his pit box.

The No. 16 Performance Plus Motor Oil was fastest on long green flag runs, but multiple cautions towards the end cost Biffle track position.  Biffle crossed the line 18th Sunday afternoon at Sonoma Raceway.
