Biffle Races Way into Sprint All-Star Race; Finishes 8th

Greg Biffle gave it his all with one million dollars on the line in the Sprint All-Star race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.  Biffle dominated segment two of the Sprint Showdown, leading 16 laps and securing his position in the Sprint All-Star race.  During the All-Star race Biffle rebounded from getting trapped a lap down and suffering left-front fender damage to cross the finish line on the lead lap in the eighth position in his No. 16 Cheez-It Ford.

The Sprint Showdown consisted of three segments, with each segment winner advancing to the All-Star race.  Pit strategy by crew chief Brian Pattie got Biffle the track position he needed in segment two to punch his ticket into the All-Star race.  Biffle led 16 of the 20 laps in segment two to secure his 13th-consecutive All-Star appearance.

Mother Nature brought storms to the Charlotte Motor Speedway area just in time for All-Star qualifying, forcing NASCAR to set the field by the rule book, leaving Biffle with a 20th-place starting position.

Biffle spent the first of the three segments searching for grip in his No. 16 Cheez-It Ford.  The field was required to complete a green-flag pit stop in segment one and as the timing unfolded Biffle was scored a lap down to the leaders.

Midway through segment two Biffle found himself the “lucky dog” recipient and was back on the lead lap, but his No. 16 suffered heavy left-front fender damage from the caution as the No. 24 checked up on the track in front of Biffle.

Despite multiple pit stops for repairs Biffle was able to stay on the lead lap and was scored 10th when the green flag dropped for the final 13-lap segment.  Biffle made up a few positions in the closing laps to cross the finish line eighth in his No. 16 Cheez-It Ford.
