No. 18 Team Issued Penalties Following Kansas Speedway Weekend

NASCAR issued fines and suspensions on Wednesday for rule violations discovered at Kansas Speedway over the weekend. The suspensions will be in effect for Dover International Speedway this coming weekend after discovering the No. 18 Toyota of Kyle Busch had missing or loose lugnuts during post-race inspection.

Crew chief Adam Stevens has been fined $20,000 and suspended from NASCAR competition until May 18. Stevens will also be placed on NASCAR probation through Dec. 31st. Front tire changer will also be suspended from NASCAR competition until May 18 and placed on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31. The front tire changer will not be given a fine.

The penalty falls under the P3 category of NASCAR’s deterrence system. This is the first violation of this rule since the sanctioning body issued the bulletin on April 28.

Sprint Cup Series teams 7, 43, 47, 48 and 78 will be issued written warnings after failing inspection a number of times. There were no penalties or warnings issued over in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
