NSCS: IRWIN Tools Night Race at Bristol Preview

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series rolls right into the Bristol Motor Speedway for the 55th annual IRWIN Tools Night Race at the 0.533-mile oval. The Sprint Cup Series race on Saturday will mark the 24th race on the schedule in 2015. Joey Logano comes into the weekend as the defending race winner.

There are 46 drivers featured on the entry list for Bristol. Some of the drivers include Ryan Blaney, Mike Bliss, Timmy Hill, Travis Kvapil, Brett Moffitt and Josh Wise. There will be three drivers going home after qualifying on Friday.

Jeff Gordon will give everyone a trip down memory lane when he takes his No. 24 Chevrolet around the Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday. Gordon, making his final start at the 0.533-mile oval, will pilot a special throwback rainbow warrior paint scheme for one final time. Gordon ran the car between 1992 through the year 2000. He has five wins at the track and holds the most poles by an active driver there.

Ryan Newman will make a milestone start on Saturday at Bristol. Newman will start in his 500th career Sprint Cup Series race. Since making his debut in 2000, Newman has 17 victories, 102 top five and 211 top 10 finishes. The Indiana native has started on the pole for a total of 51 times.

Gordon, Tony Stewart and Kasey Kahne all come into the weekend winless through the first 23 races of the season. These three drivers are desperately hungry for a win as they’re either outside of the Chase or in the Chase via driver points with three races remaining until the cutoff. Each of these drivers have all reached victory lane in the past at Bristol and look to do the same on Saturday.

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race will be televised live on NBCSN at 7:30 p.m. ET. Fans can also listen to live radio coverage of the race on the Performance Racing Network.
