NSCS: Joey Logano Captures Kansas Victory

Joey Logano captured the win at the Kansas Speedway after leading 122 of the 267 laps in the afternoon. Logano earned his fourth win of the year and will now be locked into the next round of the Chase for the Sprint Cup. He had a lot of momentum coming into this track as he has finished fourth the last two previous races.

Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender, Kyle Larson, came just shy of capturing his first ever Sprint Cup Series victory. Larson earned his third runner-up finish of the year on Sunday despite not leading a single lap. It was his eighth top-10 finish of the season and was just 0.480 seconds behind the leader.

Finishing in third was Kyle Busch after finally battling the Kansas Speedway monster. Busch came into the race with not so good previous finish there. He led only one lap after not having any tire issues all day long like some of the other drivers. Busch came into the weekend with six top-five and 12 top-10 finishes through the year.

Tire issues struck several drivers all day long as three of those were Chase for the Sprint Cup drivers. Goodyear said later in the afternoon that both were due to car set-ups and that it wasn’t a manufacture issue. This isn’t the last time we have saw this.

The next race for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will be at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Fans can watch live coverage at 7:00 p.m. Et. on ABC. The Performance Racing Network will carry the broadcast.
