Roush Fenway Racing’s “Race Around America” Launches Episode 2

Roush Fenway Racing (RFR) has launched the second installment of “Race Around America,” with a webisode that features Greg Biffle driving a Ford Mustang across the deserts of Arizona, California and Nevada. Along the way, the NASCAR champion takes a challenge from road-racing ace Jack Roush Jr., hits the sand dunes of Glamis and concludes his journey with a VIP entrance at Walgreens on the famous Las Vegas strip.

This is the second of eight webisodes chronicling RFR drivers Greg Biffle, Ryan Reed, Trevor Bayne and Chris Buescher as they make their way from race to race throughout the 2014 NASCAR season and can be viewed at www.racearoundamerica.com.

“We had a lot of fun,” said Biffle. “For starters, this whole promotion that Walgreens and Balance Financial have put together to give away this Mustang is awesome. What I love about it is all the fan interaction. They can determine all the upgrades on the car; the suspension package, the engine, you name it. It is really cool that fans can go online and say ‘I want to see this done or that done,’ and then have a chance to win this car at the end of the year.”

For episode two, Biffle took the “Race Around America” Mustang out to a local road course in Phoenix to race a few laps with Roush Jr., who flexed the muscle of a fully equipped ROUSH Stage III Mustang against the two-time NASCAR Champion. Biffle then spent a couple of days in Glamis taking on the treacherous sand dunes, before heading to Las Vegas.

Fans were given two options for Biffle’s trip to Las Vegas; ultimately choosing to send the driver to his destination via the dunes.

“I was lucky to get the Phoenix to Vegas leg,” added Biffle. “I love going to the sand dunes. We had a really good time for a couple of days before heading to Vegas.”

From now until the final checkered flag of the season in Miami in November, the RFR drivers will pilot the Walgreens “Race Around America” Ford Mustang across the country’s highways. Along the way, fans will vote on upgrades to the vehicle; eventually transforming the GT into a fully enhanced ROUSH Stage III Mustang. In addition, fans will determine the various routes the drivers take from track to track. A camera crew will be on hand for each of the trips, giving the fans an opportunity to ride along via eight webisodes airing throughout the season and to vote on upcoming trips at www.racearoundamerica.com.

The webisodes are a part of a multi-faceted campaign – fueled entirely by fan interaction – that will culminate with one lucky fan having the opportunity to drive home the ROUSH Stage III Mustang.

The third webisode will feature Buescher, as he takes the “Race Around America” Mustang from his home state of Texas to the historic Darlington Raceway.

The Walgreens “Race Around America” is presented by Balance Financial. Visit www.racearoundamerica.com for more details on how you could drive home the custom ROUSH Stage III Mustang used in the series.
