Comcast to Celebrate Grand Opening of River City Xfinity® Store in Jacksonville with Championship-Winning NASCAR® Driver Tony Stewart

Comcast today is holding a special event with three-time NASCAR® Sprint Cup Series™ champion Tony Stewart to celebrate the grand opening of its new River City Xfinity®store location in Jacksonville. The store showcases the innovation and speed of Xfinity products, and is designed entirely around the needs of customers, offering consumers an opportunity to explore and interact directly with the latest Xfinity products and services.

Stewart recently filmed a TV commercial for Comcast highlighting the incredible speed of the Xfinity Wireless Gateway that powers the nation’s fastest Internet and in-home Wi-Fi service. He will sign autographs for 250 fans beginning at approximately 6:30 p.m. at the River City Xfinity Store, where his No. 14 Bass Pro Shops/Mobil 1 Chevrolet race car is also on display for fans. Mayor Alvin Brown, community and business leaders are expected to join with Comcast and Stewart to mark the official grand opening of the new Xfinity store.

“As a race car driver and a team owner, I like to be hands-on and test-drive products, especially when they are fast, which is why I love this new River City Comcast Xfinity store,” Stewart said. “It’s completely interactive, and really allows people to experience Comcast products and services for themselves. I’m a big fan!”

During the grand-opening ceremony, Comcast Florida will present Stewart with a donation for The Tony Stewart Foundation, which last year marked 10 years as a charitable foundation and has awarded $5.2 million to outstanding organizations serving children, animals and injured motor racing drivers in 41 of 50 states, including Florida.

“I am so thankful to Comcast for supporting The Tony Stewart Foundation, and helping us continue to give back to communities throughout Florida and across the country,” Stewart said. “I drive a race car, but there are so many people out there driving great work in their communities, and it means a lot to me to be able to support them.”

The River City Marketplace Comcast Xfinity store is conveniently located at 13141 City Station Drive and is open seven days a week. At approximately 5,000 square feet, the store features fully interactive touchscreen displays, an Xfinity Experience Zone, customer lounge and seating area, a 3D TV viewing experience, a Kids Zone with iPads featuring child-friendly apps and content. The new store lets customers try out the newest Xfinity products and services, including the X1 Platform available now for Jacksonville customers. X1 is a first of its kind entertainment platform offering that offers a more personalized and dynamic TV experience. Customers can demo the Xfinity Home security control and energy management system, the Xfinity TV Go app, and the blazing fast Xfinity high-speed internet service. Small and medium-size business customers can learn more about Comcast Business products and services at kiosks throughout the store.

Customers will also appreciate the personalized service from trained and knowledgeable sales consultants and important new time-saving offerings, including a self-service kiosk for quick bill pay and a new queuing system that allows customers to explore the store at their own pace instead of waiting in line for service.

“Our new Jacksonville Xfinity stores provide a destination where our customers can not only experience our innovative products, but can take care of their business in a comfortable, interactive and entertaining environment,” said Tom Zemaitis, Comcast’s Regional Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Florida. “These stores were designed first and foremost with our customers in mind, to create an improved customer experience for them with the same mindset of innovation, speed and value that our customers love about our products.”
