Darlington Raceway to host “Speed & Feed Cook-Off and Car Show” event November 11-12

Darlington Raceway will serve as the host for quality barbeque, classic cars and great live music when the Speed & Feed BBQ Cook-off and Car Show returns to the track November 11-12.

The event will be FREE and open to the public from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Friday, November 11 and 10 a.m.4 p.m. on Saturday, November 12. Unlimited tastings will be available for $5 per person per day while supplies last.

“The Speed and Feed BBQ Cook-Off and Car Show is a terrific community festival that will host the region’s top BBQ teams and hundreds of classic cars. We’re proud to be hosting this event for the fourth consecutive year,” track President Kerry Tharp said.

The BBQ cook-off will again be sanctioned by the South Carolina BBQ Association, one of the premier BBQ organizations in the country, and feature some of the top cook teams in the region. The teams will be vying to win the coveted $2,500 first-place prize, while also earning a spot in the World Food Championships.

A chicken wing cook-off will take place on Friday night and will be judged by a local celebrity panel.

Additionally, the two day car show will feature an open show of cars and trucks on display for enthusiasts, along with a swap meet. Participants will have the opportunity to make a lap around the famous 1.366-mile raceway on Friday night under the lights.

Pre-registration for the car show is $25. Day of show registration will be $30. A commemorative dash plaque will be given to the first 500 car and truck registrations. Trophies will be given to the top 50 cars and trucks, plus other special awards.

The car show and swap meet are once again being organized by longtime enthusiasts, Fred and Nancy Turner, of Florence, S.C.

Darlington Raceway is also offering pace laps around the Lady in Black for a donation of $10 per ride or five non-perishable food items. All proceeds will benefit the track’s charitable arm Darlington Shares and The Lord Cares food bank in Darlington.
