Lonesome Pine Raceway gearing up for final half of season

Lonesome Pine Raceway is set for the final half of the 2016 season, beginning with this Saturday’s (July 30) race.

With only six races remaining this season, the championships are still up for grabs.

Wayne Hale finds himself atop the Late Model Stock Car standings by 51 points over second place Steve Deskins. Hale is going for back-to-back titles, after winning last season’s crown.

Elby Harrison leads Rob Austin by only six points in the Modified Street division. Harrison has a division-high three wins on the season.

The Pure 4 division standings are extremely close between John and Jason Ketron. The father-son duo is in a tie, both with 146 points. John Ketron holds the lead with three wins to Jason’s two.

Rocky Yates leads in the Mod 4 division over Freddie Taylor Jr. by 37 points. Yates won the division’s championship title last year.

Jamie Meadows leads the Pure Street division by just three points over Doug Austin.

Blaine Harrison has dominated the Bandelero division this season. Harrison has five wins and currently leads the championship hunt.

Saturday’s race features twin 35-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock Car races. Modified Street, Pure 4, Mod 4, Pure Street and Bandleros will all be in action, as well.

Grandstands open at 4 p.m., qualifying begins at 6 p.m. and the green flag waves at 7 p.m. Adult admission is $10 and children age 12 or younger are admitted free.
