Try Evergreen with Christmas in July on Sunday, the 31st

Evergreen Raceway’s “Christmas in July” event will take place on Sunday, July 31. Not only will Santa be present, but he will have items for the children at the speedway, courtesy of track fans, drivers, teams and officials. Santa also has a gift for racers who would like to try Evergreen Raceway.

Evergreen track management has decided to honor any other track’s pit license for the afternoon, which means that they will be admitted into the pit area for $30 instead of $40. Furthermore, if any driver would like to take to the Evergreen asphalt for the first time, the speedway will lend them a set of used tires for the afternoon. Drivers that plan to accept this offer are asked to call the speedway office at 570-956-6347 so that the speedway can plan accordingly.

Aside from Santa Claus being at Evergreen that day, there will also be a bouncy house and swings for the kids, plus activities are being planned for the afternoon.

As many are aware, speedway officials have been making recent schedule adjustments to accommodate for the number of divisions racing per day. Instead of making these changes every few weeks, speedway officials are meeting to revamp the rest of the 2016 season schedule. Those changes, which will be the last of the season, will be released soon.

The Dirt Modifieds are on the racing card for July 31 and the Late Models, Street Stocks, Factory Stocks and Four Cylinders will also be in action as well. Grandstand admission is just $8. Children 10 years of age and younger are admitted for free with a paying adult.

A portion of the grandstand entry proceeds will be donated to the family of John Kostanesky, who is from nearby Beaver Meadows and recently passed away.

The pit gate will swing open at 10:30 AM and the pit entrance fee is $30 with any track pit license or $40 without. Practice will kick off at 12:30 PM and heat races will begin at 2 PM. The grandstand gates will open at noon.

Evergreen Raceway is located minutes from Hazleton, PA, in between routes 93 and 309.
