MIScamping.com Infield welcomes fans in 2017 with new restrooms and improved drainage system

Michigan International Speedway announced on Wednesday plans to build two new restrooms in the infield, along with the completion of updates to the infield draining system to be ready for guests beginning in 2017.

“The guests in the infield are the most avid fans in all of sports,” track President Roger Curtis said. “There is something special about the infield, and the NASCAR fans who camp in the infield needs to be taken care of because they are truly special.”

The improvements have begun with architectural renderings presented to the track for approval. Three of the restroom facilities in the infield will be torn down and completely replaced by two larger restrooms in turns two and three, similar to the bathroom facility in the center of the infield built in 2013.

The improvements don’t stop there. NASCAR’s fastest track is improving the drainage system throughout the MISCamping.com Infield. The track will install 70, 18-inch catch basins with grates to help with water drainage. The catch basins will be attached by more than 8,000 linear feet of sock tile.

And new this year, guests can start camping in the infield on Monday of race week. Infield guests should enter the infield through the M-50 crossover and can begin set-up for the weekend of a lifetime at 6 p.m. Monday of race week.
