Big Month Of May Coming Up At Greenville-Pickens Speedway

The month of May will be a hot one at the Greenville-Pickens Speedway with several special events throughout the month for fans to enjoy both on and off the track.

This Saturday, May 7th, will find the limited late model division headlining with a 50-lap feature event as “The Young One” Luke Sorrow tries to reclaim the momentum that he started the season with, while Colby “The Kid” Howard tries to keep his two-week GPS win streak going.

Taylor Sorrow, Tasha Kummer, Phillip Peters and Anthony Miller will be among those challenging both young hotshoes for the victory on Saturday, and the renegades, pure stocks, super stocks and four-cylinders will also be on the card.

There will be a “meet and greet” for fans with the four-cylinder and pure stock drivers as well.

In honor of this Sunday being Mother’s Day, all “Moms” get in free this Saturday night!

May 14th is going to be a huge late model spectacular at the “historic half-mile”.  The Southeast Limited Late Model Series returns to the track with their Pro and Daytona1 Challenger divisions for two big main events, and the twin 75-lap program for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series late model stock cars that was rained out this past Saturday has also been rescheduled for that evening.

That’s four big races for over 250 total laps of late model style racing in one night!

The pure stocks will compete in a points race as well.  All other support divisions will have that night off.

Due to the addition of the NASCAR late model stocks to the May 14th card, a “swap” of headline divisions has been made for May 21st and 28th.

In order to avoid running the late model stocks back-to-back weeks, the track moved their May 21st appearance to May 28th, and moved the limited late model points race scheduled on the 28th to the 21st instead.

That means the May 21st program now will feature limited late models (with a meet and greet for fans with this class as well), pure stocks, renegades, super stocks and four-cylinders.

On May 28th, Twin 75’s for the late model stock division will be run along with regular points shows for the pure stocks, renegades, super stocks and four-cylinders.

“We’re definitely excited about everything we have lined up for our fans at Greenville-Pickens this month,” Track Promoter Anthony Anders said. “We’re looking forward to honoring our moms this weekend, and the rainout this past Saturday let us turn May 14th into a show we believe could be one of the most exciting of the year.  Then we finish with two really strong points shows and we have some meet and greets thrown in there to let the fans get autographs and get to know the drivers in different divisions through the month as well.”

Gates open at 4pm for spectators this Saturday, with the first racing green flag at 7pm.
