Celebrate the 25th Anniversary of The Night Race at RIR in September

Come help us celebrate the 25th Anniversary of The Night Race as we go “under the lights” for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series regular season finale.  On the heels of exciting day racing at Richmond International Raceway, NASCAR is celebrating its return to the Action Track this September 9 & 10.  Tickets are on sale now for the NASCAR weekend at Richmond Presented by WhosYourDriver.org, complete with the Virginia529 College Savings Plan 250 NASCAR XFINITY Series race and the Federated Auto Parts 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.

In 1991, a RIR tradition was created.  Harry Gant won the first scheduled night race under the new permanent lights at RIR.  Since that moment, we’ve been racing “under the lights” at America’s Premier Short Track.  It’s something about seeing the sparks flying, the brakes glowing, and the cars shining that makes fans and drivers happy.  Some would argue it’s in your blood.  When we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of The Night Race this September, it’ll be like welcoming an old friend back.

The weekend features one of the most anticipated races of the season – the Federated Auto Parts 400 on Saturday, September 10.  NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers will battle for a coveted win sticker to secure their spot in the 2016 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.  The stakes are higher, which means drivers will be going all out and emotions are sure to run high.  Once the checkered flag flies, the field will be set for the 2016 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.  Advance tickets start at just $35 and kids 12 & younger are $25 off in every grandstand section.

Night racing officially returns to Richmond on Friday, September 9, with a full day of on-track activity, highlighted by the Virginia529 College Savings 250 NASCAR XFINITY Series race “under the lights.”  You won’t want to miss a night of old-school, short track action “under the lights,” where young guns are pitted against battle-tested veterans.  Bring the entire family because kids 12 & younger are admitted FREE with a ticketed adult in general admission seating areas. Friday’s ticket also includes NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Pole Qualifying and NASCAR XFINITY Series Pole Qualifying.  Advance general admission tickets start at just $30 and advanced reserved tickets are $40.

Short track racing on Friday and Saturday nights, there’s nothing quite like it.   You’ve got to see it for yourself!  Tickets for both races can be purchased online by visiting www.rir.com or calling 866-455-7223.
