Barbara Padilla to sing National Anthem for AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway

Bárbara Padilla, the Mexican-American classical crossover soprano whose career blossomed after finishing runner-up on the fourth season of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” has been invited to sing the National Anthem for the AAA Texas 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Sunday, Nov. 8, at Texas Motor Speedway.
 
Ms. Padilla, the talented songstress, will be making a stop on her North American tour schedule to perform for the first time ever at a NASCAR race before one of the largest crowds expected for the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup™ championship rounds. The announcement comes during National Hispanic Heritage Month as Texas Motor Speedway and NASCAR celebrate the cultural contributions the international soprano has made to the United States.
 
“I am honored to perform the National Anthem at the AAA Texas 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series,” Ms. Padilla said. “The United States of America is a melting pot of many different people with diverse backgrounds, and NASCAR is a wonderful way all of these cultures can come together to celebrate one of the country’s greatest pastimes.”
 
Ms. Padilla’s career began to take off in 2004 when she earned several roles with various opera companies. In 2009, she got her big break with a successful run on the immensely popular entertainment show, “America’s Got Talent.” She quickly became an audience favorite as her vocals encompassed multitudes of emotions and beautifully blended opera, instrumental classical harmonies, and contemporary pop throughout the competition. Ms. Padilla went on to finish runner-up to country singer Kevin Skinner that season and also was invited and participated in the “America’s Got Talent” 10-week live concert series.
 
Ms. Padilla has performed as a soloist at symphonic events and has given concerts and recitals throughout the United States, Italy and Mexico. Her repertoire spans from beloved operas such as La Boheme, Turandot, Tosca, Madame Butterfly and La Traviata to poignant oratorios like Verdi’s and Mozart’s Requiem Masses and other masterworks including Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Joseph Haydn’s Nelson Mass and Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana. Her versatility has allowed her to excel at “popera,” and she has sung favorite songs within that genre such as “Time To Say Goodbye,” “Gira Con Me Questa Notte,” “Alfonsina y El Mar,” among others.
 
Ms. Padilla recently released her first self-titled album with rave reviews. Recorded at the legendary Capitol Studios in Los Angeles and Abbey Road Studios in London (with the London Symphony Orchestra), Ms. Padilla was produced by the illustrious multi-Grammy Award-winning team of Gregg Field and Jorge Calandrelli, and it includes layered pieces of instrumental music mingled with lyrics and hints of some of her favorite arias, classical compositions and pop songs.
