Homestead-Miami Speedway to Host “Track Laps for a Cause” Event September 19

South Florida, start your engines!

On Saturday, September 19, Homestead-Miami Speedway will host the “Track Laps for a Cause” charity event. Fans are invited to bring their personal cars down to the track and drive around the 1.5-mile oval the crowns NASCAR’s champions. All laps will be led by the official Homestead-Miami Speedway pace car. Proceeds from the event benefit Homestead-Miami Speedway’s charitable outreach program, “Driving for a Cause.”

Established after the devastation of Hurricane Andrew in 1992, Homestead-Miami Speedway was developed by the City of Homestead as a state-of-the-art motorsports venue that would forever change the economy of Homestead, Greater Miami and the entire South Florida region. Homestead-Miami Speedway’s “Driving for a Cause” uses the popularity of motorsports to focus public attention and funding on South Florida youth and educational programs. “Driving for a Cause” is a donor-advised fund under the umbrella of The NASCAR Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization that hosts numerous charity events. In addition, The NASCAR Foundation sponsors the ‘Speediatrics’ pediatric emergency response unit at Homestead Hospital.

Guests will be able to drive their car around Homestead-Miami Speedway for $10 per lap. Rides in the official Homestead-Miami Speedway pace car, a Ford Shelby GT 500 Mustang, are also available for $60 per lap. Motorcyclists will be able to participate with a helmet.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 19 and will end at 7 p.m. Local area car clubs are invited to attend the event for a group rate. Car clubs will receive a set amount of laps around the oval and a photo opportunity on the track. Please contact Brandon Ward at (305) 230-5228 or [email protected] for more details.

Drivers will enter the Speedway through Gate 18 on SW 344th Street and through the tunnel to the infield. Additional laps may be purchased by cash or credit card after the completion of the paid laps. Cash and credit cards will be accepted at the gate.
