Randy Benson, Jeff Melton Return To Victory Lane At Dillon Motor Speedway

Due to a washout on Saturday, Dillon Motor Speedway hosted the First Bank 200 on Sunday, June 28.

In the Late Model division, defending track champion, Randy Benson took the checkered flag at the speedway for the first time since 2010. The race featured a very competitive 21-car field. BJ Mackey who led the majority of the laps just wasn’t able to capitalize on a late restart and had to settle for a second place finish. Shawn Magnum finished third. Kevin Parsons and Archie Adams Jr. rounded out the top-five.

Ricky Locklair Jr. was able to hold off William Haynie who finished second and Ben Watford who finished third in the closing laps of the Charger feature to claim his first victory in the division at the speedway. Kevin Ellis finished fourth, and Michael Elliott finished fifth.

Jeff Melton dominated the Street Stock feature on Sunday afternoon. AJ Hyatt was the runner-up, followed by Sonny Schoffen rounding out the top-three. Ricky Locklair Jr. and Willie Grainger finished fourth and fifth respectively.

JR Moore picked up yet another victory in the Four Cylinder Stock feature after leading flag-to-flag. Rounding out the top-five was Andy Norton, Will Bruxton, Tommy Altman and Jake Fitzgerald.

Trey Shuler put on quite a performance in the Mini Cup Stock division on Sunday. He kicked off the afternoon by winning the Mini Cup Dash and then followed that effort up with his first main event victory. Ricky Locklair Jr. and Logan Owens finished just behind Shuler. Steve Davis crossed the finish line in fourth, and Aiden Hetu finished fifth.

On Saturday, July 11, Dillon Motor Speedway will host the 9th Annual Raceway Automotive Fireworks Spectacular. The Mid Atlantic Street Stocks (MASS) will compete for $2,000. Other divisions competing include Late Models, Chargers, Four Cylinder Stocks and Mini Cups. The speedway will also host a massive fireworks display.
