O’Reilly Auto Parts day car show to highlight classic cars on Labor Day weekend

If you own a classic car and would like to show it off in support of our country’s deeply rooted automotive heritage, Darlington Raceway has just the ticket for its Labor Day race weekend.

The O’Reilly Auto Parts Race Day Car Show is an opportunity for enthusiasts to bring their classic car to the track Too Tough To Tame and showcase it during the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Bojangles’ Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.

All participants will receive tickets to the NSCS race, which returns to its traditional Labor Day weekend date on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015.

“If you are a car show enthusiast, this is the perfect opportunity to showcase your vehicle to the thousands of race fans that will be attending our Bojangles’ Southern 500 race,” Darlington Raceway President Chip Wile said. “As we celebrate our history at Darlington Raceway, we want this car show to represent and honor the automotive heritage that the sport was built upon.”

Race day car show packages are $130 each and include:

·         Two (2) NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Bojangles’ Southern 500 tickets in the Pearson Grandstands rows 1-12, a $160 value.

·         Two (2) pre-race pit pass wristbands ($50 value)

·         Designated parking spot in the fan display area

·         Commemorative dash plaque

For an additional $60, participants may also showcase their car at the NASCAR XFINITY Series VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200 race on Saturday, Sept. 5.

Each package for the XFINITY Series race day will include two (2) general admission tickets to the VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200 and a designated parking spot in the fan display area. Saturday-only packages are not available.

Car eligibility requirements are as follows:

·         All cars prior to 1980

·         All Camaros, Chargers, Challengers, Corvettes, Foreign Exotics, Mustangs, Prowlers, Rat Rods, Vipers and British sports and luxury vehicles will be eligible regardless of age and manufacturer.

·         Acceptance of customized vehicles made after 1980 will be made on a case-by-case basis based on application review.

Four awards will be given during the show: Darlington Legends, President’s Choice, People’s Choice and Sponsor Awards.

Cars will need to be set up by 9 a.m. on race day. Trailers are not allowed and tents/EZ ups are prohibited in the car display area.
